Second time out with Phil, great riding, great scenery and wonderful food. Can't wait for the third time!
Andrew Beharrell 27th March 2016
Huge thanks to Phil for a great week riding the trails in this beautiful part of Andalucia.
I arrived as an off-road novice, and left feeling confident to go to the next level and looking forward to a return visit. I was especially impressed by Phil's local knowledge and ability to manage the aspirations of a group with very different riding skills, including some much more advanced riders.
The logistics, bikes and routes were outstanding - as was the social experience over excellent lunches.
Nicholas Eaton 22nd March 2016
We went looking for adventure and we sure found it! This is one of the best experiences in one of the most beautiful, unspoilt parts of the World. I cant recommend 'Riders of the lost trail' highly enough. Phil is an excellent host and nothing was too much trouble. The riding is superb and the bikes and equipment are 1st class. We are definitely going back!
Colin Mills 22nd March 2016
Thanks to everyone for looking after us as soon as we arrived in Malaga. The accommodation was great and in a cracking position in the village.
The riding was even better than I had hoped. The views were breathtaking, the goat track hill climbs and rocky descents really got the blood pumping on many occasions. River crossings were exciting as was the dry stream bed rocky trials sections. After topping out on the larger mountains, it was so peaceful with beautiful scenery. Yes, without a doubt, I would recommend booking Riders-Of-The-Lost-Trail. Thanks again Phil for looking after us.
Matt Fordham 10th March 2016
Wow, one of the most incredible weeks i have ever had. Phil was easy going and very enjoyable to spend time with. I was one of the five riders to take part in this trail adventure of a life time. The trails were awesome, remote beauty all around this stunning region of Spain. Phil allowed us to ride on in certain remote areas ahead of him, this was amazing, fast flowing roads, epic views. At the end of each day, we rewarded ourselves with a few beers in a local pub within staggering distance of the apartment . Phil has boundless enthusiasm for the local history, and has at a moments notice a fun fact up his sleeve that kept all of us laughing and engaged with where we were.
I would go back tomorrow if I didn't live in the real world, however I said to one of the guys who came along that we had to get back to the haven of midlife crisis utopia.
Not if, but when are we going. Thanks Phil for everything, you have a bike waiting for you to do the 2 day welsh. Look forward to coming over soon.
Andrew Woodall 21st Feb 2016

We travelled with Riders of the lost trail in Feb 2016, Phil was great and provided, great bikes, kit, riding and fantastic scenery (not that Phil can claim the last one). Phil catered for all our riding needs as well as providing some useful riding tips to help us improve he also always bought the 1st beers at the end of the day. We will be back and maybe sooner than you think!!
Dave wilki 16th Feb 2016
I went with 2 mates to cortes in early February and had a bloody great time, apart from the weather being great Phil was a excellent host very helpful and content to look after us ,we had one of our group who was not the fittest and a little overweight but Phil made all the trails to suit everyone and every ability.
we stopped every day for lunch at some lovely spots, the scenery is breath taking ,accommodation organised in the town was a pleasure to stay in. all in all a great recommended trip
Chris Blake 2nd Feb 2016
I Had a great time riding the mountains. Phil is a great guy and a fantastic guide and really dose know the place like the back of his hand. We had some massive hills to climb up and the tips this man can give you about riding are brilliant. We saw so much of Spain that not many see. Phil took some photos of us out and about the trails so you don't even need to take a camera. When we stopped for lunch Phil found some fantastic little places the food was fantastic. After all that Phil would drop us off at the apartment we the bar next to it and always have a beer with us and a great time talking about the ridding and so much more. Top Man.

Me and five friends had the pleasure of spending a week exploring Andalucia with Phil. This is definitely one of the most exciting vacations I have experienced! The KTM 350's are great bikes, and Phil is an even greater guide! His experience and knowledge both to the area and to the local community is invaluable for the RotLT experience.
Phil is very observant towards the individual rider's skills, and sets the riding up so that everybody can have exciting challenges, but at the same time making sure we are safe. We all learned a lot during our week, and it is something I would definitely do again! Highly recommended!
Food and accommodations were great, the bikes are always well maintained and the riding gear is of top quality! And best of all, the gravel roads in the great area around Cortes de la Frontera are completely awesome!
Jostein Gundersen 9th Dec 2015
This is one of the best active holidays you can have! this year was our second time around and it will definitely not be the last.
Good challenging riding (if you want it to be), well maintained bikes and with Phil as your guide you just cant go wrong! whatever issues that might occur during riding is always handled as swift as possible and the fun continues.
You will ride through vast areas with some staggering views along the way so even if you ride for five days as we did you won't feel as if you spend too much time in the same terrain.
Thanks for yet another epic week Phil!
Steven Knighting 7th Nov 2015
Not long back from my 4th trip out there... Another fantastic time with more trails, always good to feel development and tackle tougher terrain!
As always well lead by Phil, great apartment, great company, great time!
See you again soon!

ENG: Can definitely recommend Phil and ridersofthelosttrails. I went alone for this trip but immediately felt welcomed and part of the group. Great bikes and a great landscape to ride in! Phil knows his way around those mountains and he takes you out to places you could not find yourself or be allowed to ride anyways Big thanks and I’m sure to come back for more riding!

Great trip again!
My third time with Riders of the Lost Trail was again a great experience. There is still a lot to discover around Cortes. I will definitively try to come back next year.
Alistair Henderson 28th Nov 2015
Big thanks to Phil at Riders of the Lost Trail for a truely awesome weekend. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left we were all well looked after.
The bikes were superb! Well maintained and perfect for the job of riding the fantastic trails. We were a mixed group with some having little or no off road experience and others with a few years under their belts. Phil knows the trails so well that he was able to take us on routes that provided a challenge for everyone at a pace suitable to the whole group. We had some fast open gravel tracks, hill climbs, rocky trails and singel tracks. When the going was about to get tricky, Phil made sure the less experienced had an alternative route to ensure we all got the most out of our trip.
I loved every minute of it and will definetly be back!
Lee ABBOTT 28th Nov 2015
Myself and two mates have just had one of the best holidays ever with Phil at riders of the lost trail. The bikes and accommodation where first class. We had four days riding and they where some of the best riding we have done . phil tailored the riding to our group perfectly keeping the riding interesing and challenging. The area is perfect for trail riding and has a lifetime of trails to explore. The only problem we have now is how we are going to top it next year!
Eivind Ottersen 26th Nov 2015
Yet another great adventure is over! As last year, we went back to Spain for some enduro riding. Although this was the second trip to Riders of the lost trail, our great guide Phil managed to take us to new fantastic roads. With Phil's local knowledge of the area, we drove some places we would never have found by our self, from swiping roads with great views, fun playing on his local enduro/cross track and to technical parts where our enduro capabilities were put to the challenge.
Thanks Phil for a great weeks riding.
We will definitely return for new adventures next year!
Paul 26th Nov 2015
Phil did a great job of catering for our goup with mixed abilities, he clearly knows the area very well and can change up the routes on the fly depending on time and what people enjoy.
The bikes obviously take a bit of abuse but were all in great condition and maintained to a very high standard.
All of the kit supplied was of good standard as well.
Amazing scenery as well, what more do you want?
Phil Rea 25 Nov 2015
Thanks Phil, what a great weekend we had, the town, the people, the accommodation were brilliant.
6 of us went for two days (3 nights) on the 20/11/2015, Phil was a top host and lead us on two days of great trails on great ktm's, all top kit supplied too.
We will be back... :)
Jos 26th Nov 2015
This was the second year we visited Phil and I personally noticed a great improvement of my driving skills compared to last year. Although Phil denies that he's an expert or teacher, he knows exactly how to improve everyone individually.
If I would drive the Andalucian mountains by myself, I wouldn't have done half of the stuff that we did (think steep hills up or down, track riding, stoney paths). Oh, and of course I would get completely lost without Phil. However, Phil is more than a guide/teacher, he's sociable and will make you feel comfortable quickly.
The bikes are in great condition. Phil and his little team of mechanics make sure that if there is anything not to your liking then it is fixed the next day. Think: bleed brakes, adjust handles, new tyre, etc.
See you next year Phil!
Stuart Duncan 6th Nov 2015
This was my fourth and most entertaining trip yet with Phil, and I'll be back for a fifth when the opportunity presents itself. The law of averages dictated that I'd experience rain at some point whilst riding, but I never thought it could change the landscape and our riding so much. It was pure joy and a real adventure. The boys and I got to ride some new trails and the old ones continued to please. Phil was the consummate professional throughout. Those KTMs are simply sensational! Just a great couple of days in good company, wonderful surroundings and a flawless and varied riding terrain.
Andy Hindle 4th October 2015
We had an absolutely fantastic trip with Riders of the Lost Trail, with 3 days riding and 4 nights in the picturesque Cortes de la Frontera! Phil is a fantastic guide, who is able to judge ability quickly, and provide sufficient variation over a number of days to keep the group busy. We had a great mix of fast trail riding, combined with learning new skills and pushing our experience in the enduro loop. The KTM 350's are a fantastic bike, and cope with any off road trails that Phil can throw at them! Cortes offers a great base for the holiday, with stunning views, great food, beers and hospitality.
Overall, I can't wait to book again!
Adam Austin 1st October 2015
We had an incredible three days riding in the hills around Cortes and thoroughly enjoyed it! Cortes is the ideal base with a range of trails right on the doorstep (including the private enduro/skills loop which is a lot of fun). Phil is an excellent guide and helped us develop our trail riding skills on a huge variety of routes and terrain. It was amazing how much we progressed over just a few days. Phil also has a great relationship with the local communities. Meeting the local farmers and residents on route as well and visiting interesting sites and beautiful view points along the way all added to the experience. I thoroughly recommend a trip with Riders of the Lost Trail and we are already considering when we will return.
Richard 1st October 2015
If you are contemplating an off-road motorbiking trip I can't recommend one with Riders of the Lost Trail enough! Phil was always on hand from our initial inquiry until we departed after three incredible days of riding around Andalucia. Phil’s ability to guide and instruct ensured everyone was challenged to get the most out of their riding whilst ensuring maximum enjoyment.
Cortes de la Frontera is a truly unspoilt part of Spain with stunning scenery, wonderful trails and great locals. Returning here to recount tales of the day, sample local cuisine and enjoy a few beverages late into the evening was a real treat.
A trip with Rider’s of the Lost Trail ticked every box I hoped for. I can’t wait to book again!

Thanks Phil for a great trip. The riding was awesome, 5 days of great tracks with awesome scenery. The KTM 350 is a great bike, perfect for the terrain we rode. Would recommend to any one thinking about doing this trip. Great riding for all abilities.

Awesome, Brilliant, Excellent. What else can I say. Phil is a great host, with excellent bikes and gear, and fantastic trails to ride for all levels. We were challenged often with great hill climbs, tight single track trails, great scenery. We came from NZ where we have access to lots of riding, and we were thoroughly pleased with what Phil had to offer. Local accommodation and restaurants were of a high standard. Highly Recommend to intending riders. Thanks Phil from all the Kiwis
Athol Speden 16th June 2015
We flew all the way from New Zealand to experience riding in the Andalucians with Phil from Riders of the lost trail and wow did the experience deliver. The bikes were fantastic to ride, very well maintained and more than delivered everything that was asked. The scenery and trails were awesome and widely varied which meant everyday was totally different and had easy to challenging sections. Phil has a lot of local knowledge and information to share about the culture of the local people and their lifestyle. The whole setup of Riders of the Lost Trail is excellent so I highly recommend if you want an unforgettable experience riding in Spain book early!!!! So to Phil we give top marks and a big thanks from the Kiwi's.

Simply one of the best things I have ever done...
As someone who only learned to ride because commuting by bike was quicker and cheaper than going by car or train, I have never considered myself a 'biker'.
When my wife planned a long weekend away with 'the girls' I had an opportunity to take a few days holiday and do something 'different' and I figured I'd give off-road riding a go.
A quick search of the internet turned up a few candidates and some trawling of review sites and asking around narrowed these to a short-list. I pinged a couple of emails out asking about availability on the dates my wife was away and almost immediately got a response back from Phil at RotLT stating he had space for the dates I wanted. A couple of days later I got responses from the others - one had space, the other didn't but by that point I'd already booked with RotLT.
I was impressed with RotLT from the moment I looked at their website:
- they are part of the community in Cortes de la Frontera and have a deep love and respect of the country - something which was demonstrated every time we were out riding and whenever we stopped for food or a drink.
- they are dedicated to providing top quality bikes and equipment so that all I had to do was 'turn up'
- they are experienced at catering for mixed ability groups
...the list goes on.
So, the weeks went past and then I was on the plane heading to Malaga, nervous but excited.
Google Maps driving directions got me to Cortes de la Frontera, literally to the door of the garage where RotLT keep their bikes and gear - a quick call and Phil came to meet me so he could lead me up to the village where the guests stay.
From that moment on I just had the most brilliant time...
Great company from the other riders on the trails and for 'post ride' beers and evening meals.
Brilliant 'local colour' provided by the various ex-pats and locals - I have truly never met such an interesting, entertaining and diverse bunch of people!
All presided over by Phil our guide, guru and absolutely great guy!
"But what about the riding?" - well, as a novice I felt challenged but never out of my depth or pressured to attempt something I wasn't happy with. Phil provided just the right level of instruction - enough to give me the confidence to 'get out there and ride' and always done with great patience so even when I made the same mistakes time after time (and kept dropping the bike) I didn't feel like an idiot. Plus, Phil must have eyes in the back of his head - he always knew how I was getting on, even when he was several corners further along the trail than me!
Phil expertly set a pace that was fun for the more experienced riders but which didn't force the less experienced riders to ride beyond their fledgling ability. In addition, Phil's encyclopaedic knowledge of the trails meant he would often send the 'experts' along an alternate, more challenging trail while he lead the novices along an easier route.
I rode wide gravelly roads, twisty single-track, rocky and rutted trails, steep climbs/descents and (of course) the RotLT private Enduro track, fell off, got up, got bruised, dripped sweat like I had been hosed down, fell off again, got back up again, parked the bike part way up a sheer rock (don't ask), ate a great lunch then rode, sweated and fell off all over again... all with a massive grin on my face and a great bunch of 'instant' best mates!
After the ride was finished and the bikes were put away we got to re-live the whole day over cold beers and plates of tapas... simply fantastic...
And this doesn't even touch on the non-riding aspects: dung beetles, carob seeds, aqueducts, gorges, the Smurf village...
I can't wait for my wife's next 'girly' trip so I can go back and do it all over again.
If you've never ridden off-road and fancy it, RotLT is perfect for you...
If you've ridden a bit and want to improve your skills, RotLT is perfect for you...
If you've been riding for years and want some new challenges in great company, RotLT is for you...
Book now, you won't regret it!

What an incredible experience!
We've just returned from a truly memorable 3 days in Cortes. Bearing in mind our limited experience on Enduro bikes, (one complete newbie and a couple of us with one day's experience) Phil did an amazing job of guiding, teaching and challenging us.
Day 1 was a lovely cruise round the area getting used to the bikes and trying to remember the techniques needed to master the bikes.
Day 2 was 110km of fast tracks, hill climbs and some epic blasts high up in the hills.
Day 3 was 'slow and technical' both on the high goat trails and around Phil's track. Slow and technical is Phil's way of saying 'you'll definitely fall off a lot today', which we all did. But we also attempted and conquered some epic terrain which I don't think any of us thought we were capable of when we 1st looked at it.
The bikes are amazing, the kit Phil provides is 1st rate and the apartment we stayed in was top quality too.
Phil is a great guide, he took us to some incredible places and showed us a part of Spain I'd never seen before. His local knowledge is top notch and we were treated to some great food at lunch. Those much needed cold beers in the evening were always the cherry on the cake of a great day's riding.
A 5 Star experience! I couldn't recommend it highly enough - thanks Phil for a great time.
Mark Kingman 27th April 2015
ROTLT - well what can I say, what an experience. 3 days of absolute fun, what a blast! I had never ridden an enduro bike before but Phil managed to get me started with some basic riding techniques, gave me some pointers along the way and things went on from there. My confidence riding around the gorgeous stunning mountain sides excelled in no time. Brrrrup, brrrrrrup, ding, ding, ding.......
Fantastic views, well maintained bikes, great lunches and many a good beer, need I say more? Well yes, just one last comment. Phil was an amazing host, a really great chap, easy to get on with and one with great bike skill. He was a true gent, always asked if we felt comfortable with his next biking suggestions. Riding bike is one thing but having a really easy going and helpful guide is another. Thanks for a great time Phil.
Dave 27th April 2015
Myself and 5 friends just had 5 days riding with Phil in the lovely mountains of Andalucia, the riding was varied and the scenery breathtaking. Phil knows the mountains like the back of his hand and is a great guide, it was my first time on a Ktm 350 but I found them easy to ride and the perfect bike for the 5 days.
If you love off road biking and want to spend time on some fantastic trails give this trip a go, you won't be disappointed.
Mike heron 26th April 2015
Me and a friend had been looking to do our first offroad experience in Spain and had been looking at a few sites. Long and the short of it Riders of the Lost Trail had the best reviews and offered the best value for money so that is who we booked with. Both of us had little to no off-road experience and Phil was great with us stopping to give us hints and tips throughout , there was no pressure for us to do anything out of our comfort zones and most importantly of all took as on some amazing routes on the Spanish mountains.
Our apartment was of the highest quality and everything was straightforward. After our time away I cannot wait to get back on a dirt bike again..!! Needless to say I will be booking my next off-road experience with Phil and will be definitely spreading the word around about his company. Thanks for the great time Phil 😃😃😃😃
Joshua Griggs 14th April 2015
Had an incredible time on what was my first experience in off roading. Phil is an extremely talented rider and is very accommodating to your needs. He was able to juggle 5 riders with widely varied experience to ensure we all had a great time. The area is beautiful, we were able to see some incredible views and experience the local life, food and drink. Would highly recommend this trip and will look forward to coming back again!

Where to start?!
Having been treated to this as a birthday gift from my wife, was a little apprehensive having virtually no off-road experience, but having been collected and transported seamlessly from the Airport, met up with Phil on Friday night ahead of my first days riding. Phil has the wonderful and unique skill to be both a teacher and a mate, and make you feel completely at ease.
Getting set for the first days riding, I was treated to a superb selection of kit, while also being told what to expect and useful hints and tips. And really, from that point onwards, your journey starts, and what an amazing journey. The hills, tracks, roads, wildlife and general aura are truly breathtaking and your feel immediately spoilt. All this, and very quickly you forget about the fact that you may not having ridden anything like this before. And even despite a couple of near misses (user error!), your enthusiasm and enjoyment remain unparalleled - and all this on the first day! Throw into the mix a couple of additional great riders as fantastic company, as well as a superb lunch, and those hard earned beers at the end of the day, and you have an intoxicating weekend break for any motorbike enthusiast.
All of this though wouldn't work without the main man, Phil. His local knowledge, coupled with his riding tips and experience as well as his absolute skill to know exactly how to pace the ride and what each person is capable of is second to none. Its a bold statement to say that there really isn't anyone else who could do this as well as him, but i'm confident from my own point of view that this really couldn't have been done any better and would recommend this to anyone who is even slightly undecided about who to choose - choose Riders of the Lost Trail. You wont be disappointed.
Martin Dearnley 20th April 2015
I highly recommend 'Riders of the Lost Trail'. I have just come back from a 3 day trip , my first time on an enduro bike. The riding was fantastic so was the scenery . Phil was an excellent host taking care of all of our needs , already planning my next trip in 2016.
Matt Hayter 20th April 2015
well another trip to ROTLT- again Phil looked after us brilliantly (me and 3 newbies)- Phil tailored the 3 days for newish and a bit more experienced a like (Phil bigged me up saying I could do a climb that I could not walk up, let alone ride.....and you know what I did it.....well nearly .... I was breathing from places I never knew I could LOL).
The riding & superb KTM's are only half the story- the food / coffee / scenery and expert 'local' Knowledge (Phil)and in the evening the town of Cortes de la Frontera offering great food / drink (cheaply) - if you are thinking about it and never done it- do it- better than you can imagine and such a different experience to riding UK green lanes and if just a road rider from the evidence of my friends it will blow you away!

Sitting in the airport, would rather be in the hills! I had a really fantastic three days riding, great weather, stunning scenery, excellent bikes and top hospitality. Just perfect.
I'll be back. Cheers,

Had an excellent weekend's riding with Phil, absolutely beautiful part of the world. Great hospitality and varied terrain, easy riding if you want it or some more challenging hills that will test you. Would come back again in a heart beat.

Great weekend. Slow start to gauge our skill level, and then got steadily more challenging as he realised we could handle it! Thrills, spills and water splashes galore, with some amazing views as well. Highly recommended.

What a brilliant 2 days trail riding with Phil Wood. There were 6 of us who'd gone over 2 had been before. They described to us there previous visit. It had live up to all had told us and more. Phil is a great guide/host who catered to all our skill levels even mine slowest in the group. There was never any pressure to anything you weren't comfortable with and there was always the Chicken run as an alternative which I took on one occasion. Very good mixed terrain. Can't wait to get back and try the hill I didnt attempt. Picked up a few tips from Phil on steep descents improved my riding tenfold. We all had a great time can't wait to get back. Cheers Phil
Chris Lee 12th February 2015
I was drawn to Riders of the Lost Trail after trying other similar organisations in Spain and from my experience I'd recommend everyone give them a try. The area is perfect for varied types of riding and Phil was very accommodating of different skill levels. The supporting accommodation, local cuisine and hospitality were all to a high standard as was Phils knowledge of local culture, history and environment (ask him about Spain's most dangerous "creature").
To test his help in a crisis I managed to lose money, phone and passport on the last day and he was a great help to me in finding my way through all the admin needed to get home on time. Thanks Phil, I'll be back.
Michael May ( Matt ,Martin ,Steve,Ben,Chris and Neil) 2nd February 2015
So ..... You read the testimonials and sometimes you don't quite believe them though you should !
Great host and guide in phenomenal scenery and trails with top class equipment and accommodation .
We are all coming back and that says it all .
If in doubt don't be just book it and have fun ... Oh and pack thermals in Feb it's bloody cold ( for the first 5 mins!!)
Tom Pearcy 2nd February 2015
WOW !! What an amazing experience. We had 3 days riding with Phil, and it was fantastic in every way. The bikes were great, the trails as challenging as we wanted, the landscape and views incredible, even the food was top drawer too! I would recommend this to everyone, it couldn't have been better! Phil was a great guide, knowledgeable, friendly and fun. Add this trip to your bucket list now!!!
David Johnson 29th January 2015
Another fantastic three days of riding with Phil. I persuaded two of my friends to join me on this, my third visit to Cortes. We were also joined by another good friend who I met on my previous visit.
As usual, Phil was masterful in catering for our varying levels of riding skill. He took us on new trails that I've not ridden before as well as going back to past favourites. Since my last trip, he has managed to secure exclusive access to a vast area on the side of a mountain. It includes an enduro loop which is over a mile long and offers great opportunities to improve your riding skills.
A great time was had by all, including Phil. Many thanks and see you again soon.
Sam Wilson 28th January 2015
Just finished a 3 day tour with Phil as part of a group of four riders. I'm 55 now and Phil managed to pace things really well to give the good riders in the group a decent challenge but also allow the rest of us to keep in touch. We had the choice of enjoying the spectacular scenery on a more relaxed route or tackling some trickier climbs and trials sections if feeling more adventurous. Phil's new enduro special test loop, on isolated private land, is brilliant. A really good mix of technical challenges but not dangerous. It made me feel like a teenager again tearing round the track. The only downside of the holiday for me was having to go back to work with aching shoulders and legs wishing I was 20 years younger.

Two cracking days riding with Phil at Riders of the Lost Trail, and one of his regular customers Mark. The location and scenery are amazing and the KTM bikes and equipment spot on.
The whole package of 5 days/4 nights from collection at the airport, the accommodation, the bikes, kit, riding, to the day I was back at Malaga was 5 star. We even got to ride in some Spanish snow which I believe is a very rare. Cant wait to return.
Dr George Lambie 16th January 2015
I signed up for 2 days with Riders of the Lost Trail as a novice rider wishing to improve my off road skills. Thanks to the careful tutoring of Phil Wood on technique combined with the opportunity to ride all kinds of terrain; hill climbs and descents, muddy uneven ground, loose rocky surfaces etc., I felt considerably more confident at the end of two full days and prepared to ride more safely as well as take on new challenges. Based on the above alone the experience would rate 5 stars but there was more: stunning scenery; truly 'lost trails' where we saw no one for hours; occasions to stop and chat; delicious lunches in mountain villages; and lots of wildlife that seemed to be totally undisturbed by out bikes. As a final point the bikes, KTM 350s, were superb - light, powerful, brilliant handling - the best - and the riding gear supplied was of the highest quality making me feel as well protected as possible at all times. It is not a question of if one should consider the Riders of the Lost Trail experience, but when.

I booked a single day ride with Phil. He took us on a tour taking in some breath-taking scenery. The equipment and especially bikes (KTM 350EXCs) were top notch. He tailored the ride according to our ability which was great. It was all I'd hoped for and more. On top of this Phil is a really great guy with some interesting stories. I will be booking again next year, hopefully for more than one day and will be bringing some friends with me. A five-star experience! See you soon Phil!

Just got back home from an amazing weekend with Phil from Riders of the lost trail,
The accommodation was very clean, Great facilities which were very close to the bars and resturants and being a rural village in Spain eating and drinking prices were very cheap,
The bikes we had were Ktm's all rounder 350's well maintained a fantastic bike for the terrain that Phil took us on,
Truly breathtaking scenery up hill climbs which Phil cherry picked according to your ability.
I have been on 3 Spain trail holidays and this has to be the best so much so we are booking again for next year.
Many thanks again Phil what an amazing experience. Stuart

We had a great time riding with Phil,
His experience of the local trails were fantastic,
We had a mixed experience group, Phil kept the ride steady and fun but still managed to take us to some challenging climbs!
The organisation of the trip was great with airport pick up and apartment accommodation all sorted. All we had to do was relax with a cold beer!!
The bikes were spot on and riding gear clean and well maintained.
All I can say is roll on next year and hopefully we will be back.

This was my second time with Riders of The Lost Trail this year. Either I’m just too stupid or the riding in the Andalucian mountains is just too much fun. I choose to believe the latter.
Good bikes, quality gear, nice riding company and perfect trails with Phil’s very professional guidance – it doesn’t get much better than this.
If you’re considering booking, do it.

Phil nogmaals bedankt.

This is the 3rd time I've been here riding now. We had an absolutely brilliant time again and we got really lucky with the weather given when we were riding. 2 amazing days riding were had, the terrain and scenery constantly changing. We started doing some more challenging and technical sections too which were brilliant. I'd not consider going on an Enduro holiday with anyone other than Riders of the lost trail quite simply because of the absolutely awesome service that Phil provides with the gear and the bikes as well as being a great guy, it just ticks all the boxes for me.
Can't wait to come back again next year!
All the best

Just got back from our amazing trip. There was a group of four of us two had ridden enduro before and two of us were road riders. Phil our guide dealt with all of our abilities with ease. The riding was hard but rewarding the scenery breath taking and the beer was cheap. If you want an enduro trip in the pretty Andalucian mountains on fantastic ktm350 with a brilliant guide then don't hesitate to book you won't be disappointed.
Gary Clarke 24th November 2014
My second trip to Cortes for the perfect 3 day trip. Six hours of exciting, fun riding each day wrapped around an excellent Andalusian lunch, beautiful terrain, perfect weather, great bikes. This type of riding, in a small group, with a great guide is highly recommended.
Geir 22nd November 2014
We had some great days riding with Phil on some amazing trails.
Phil was the perfect guide. Very patient and showed us some tricks of the trade. We rode for six days and somehow he managed to top the previous days riding. Every day :-)
The bikes were in perfect condition. Still we were allowed to challenge ourselves, and the bikes, as much as we wanted to. We had some spectacular falls, all captured on video off course :-)
We were five guys that shared a very nice apartment in Cortes. At 0945 every morning Phil picked us up and we set off. We were back at the local bar for debrief around 1900. During the day we all had a great lunch at local restaurants.
If you are looking to do some enduro riding in Spain, look no further. Phil and his Riders Of The Lost Trail will be the perfect place.
We will definitively come back.

From arriving in Malaga , Phil had everything prepared from either collection from the airport or ideal car hire company. Upon our arrival in a most beautiful picturesque Spanish town Phil's well organised assistant collected us and guided us to the most luxurious accommodation which was a real surprise also the town is beautiful with very friendly locals with a great variety of cafes, restaurant and bars to choose from . Come the day of riding Phil collected our group and preped us for the following days riding . Now here is where it gets exciting , sat on our KTM 350's Phil took us straight out onto the dusty trails and tracks . He constantly monitored our progress and skill level and adjusted the riding to suit .so those worrying that it will be too easy or too difficult a ride don't worry Phil will tailor to your needs . The riding was excellent , so was the equipment and so was his guiding . Phil is what I would call "a real nice guy" which made our 2 day off road tour the best . So much so we are returning next year to ride with Phil
Svein Leikanger 6th November 2014
The best holidays ever! From the moment we came, Phil had sorted everything out: Accommodation, transport, equipment...
The KTM 350 EXC was perfect for the conditions we rode in. Gravel roads, dirt tracks, easy- and difficult off-road. Low and high speed . The scenerey, hill climbs and mountains were specracular.....! I think all in the group enhanched their skills very much. Phil always had new things to be explored, the next hour or the next day. And he callenged our level of riding, by making us try some more difficult stuff.
Some bruises and lower arm fatige. It was never about if you came off the bike, but when!
So Phil, thank you very much, I will return!
Best Regards from Svein Leikanger

Just returned from two fantastic days riding with Riders Of The Lost Trail. Our small group of three were treated to guided riding over two days through stunning scenery along a vast network of trails. Phil's knowledge of the local area is second to none, enabling you as the rider to concentrate on perfecting your technique and enjoying the experience. Everything from the accommodation to the standard of equipment provided exceeded our expectations. Even the weather was unseasonably warm adding to what was already a truley memorable experience!
Jonas Berthelsen 4th November 2014
We spent a week, riding with Phil (the guide) in the beautiful surroundings of Cortes de la Frontera. We had a blast!
- Phil is really great guy, and he will make sure you enjoy every second of your riding.
- Beautiful surroundings and mix of gravel, paths, uphills, downhills, - hard, medium, difficult etc.
- Great bikes and riding gear. (I love the KTM 350 EXC)
- Nice lunches in different restaurants.
- Phil is very good to adjust the riding and challenges for the group, even with different skills of the riders.
- Perfect logistics
- Great accommodation (we lived in an apartment)
- The beer(s) in the bar after a long day of riding
Phil is definitely well integrated in the local community and it seems that the locals are very fond of him. He probably knows the surrounding areas better than anybody else in the Fronteras. And he also knows MUCH (!) about people, culture, history, plants, animals etc in the area (and some great jokes as well).
We will definitely come back!
Simon fearnley 4th November 2014
What can you say, to start with the help that was given to us with regards to booking the right insurance and directions were great. The accommodation was great and very comfortable after a long day travelling/riding. Phil met us on the first morning explained what was going to happen over the next 2 days over a cup of coffee, he then took us to his garage and kitted us out in everything we needed and gave us our bikes. Some quick tips and we were off. The next 2 days were fantastic. Phil looked after us and nothing was too much trouble. Even when I broke the gear lever. He shot off and got another within 20 mins. The restaurants we ate at during the day were great. The riding was aimed right at our skill level. which he Sussed out in the first hour. The Scenery was fantastic, and the riding was great. Looking to comeback next year for another holiday. Maybe for a little longer next time. One tip, if you have a hydration bladder take it. The back packs that are provided can carry one. Makes life easier. Cheers Phil, see you next year....

After recently coming home from the third trip in 3 years with 'Riders' we were well impressed once again.
Phil was good as gold, tailoring the days riding to what we'd asked for; a very personal experience as it always is.
The bikes are superb, more capable that we needed.
We had great fun riding up and down the mountains and challenged ourselves on some technical sections. I actually managed a day without an off for the first time yet! The bikes are so well maintained and protected that you cant seem to damage them!
Loved being back in Cortes and we'll be going back early next year to see those amazing views once again!
Mikael Sjowall 24th October 2014
The riding was perfectly adapted to what we wanted. An easy start with "flowy" riding without too many stops and then gradually Phil introduced more challenging bits - great! Just wish I had stayed on for a 3rd day....
Brian Gladston 24th October 2014
The second and by far not the last time i'll revisit Riders. I went as an experienced rider, loved the well maintained KTM's, loved the idea, of just rolling up with what i'd taken as a hand luggage only passenger from Manchester got kitted up, couple of bottles of water, and after safety brief, took the highways and byways in the Spanish hills. Accommodation was very good standard, in the town, where there are enough supermarkets and bars to entertain you needs. Day riding, is not rushed, as a good balance of stops. Shall return.
Mike Evans 24th October 2014
I managed to drag 6 friends with me to celebrate turning half a century old. Everyone had a great time. From the airport pickup to the plane ride home everything was spot on. The accommodation, the food, the bikes and the riding were all fantastically organised and executed wonderfully. Also Phil & friends looked after us so well. I would recommend this to any biker of any age or experience, i will definitely be doing this again. I can see Phil's business going from strength to strength.
Good luck for the future, Mike & the cougar hunters from wales.
Robert Dowty 22nd October 2014
Our second season riding with Phil and a great bunch of guys. Everything ran like clockwork as before with great accommodation, great riding and great company. 3 busy days riding with plenty to talk about afterwards. The bike were new when we rode them last year and they still feel like new a year later. Thanks for another excellent adventure Phil,
best wishes, Rob
David Suttie 22nd October 2014
Had a great 2 days trail riding with Phil and a small group. Wasn't very experienced at off road, but learn't a lot and was given assistance and guidance when required. Weather, scenery, comfortable accommodation, good food and great craic all part of the price. Bikes were all in tip top condition and we were kitted out from head to toe in good quality protective gear. Will definitely be recruiting some friends for another recce next year.
John Mole 21st October 2014
For the second time myself and BG spent 3 days riding with Phil. And again he did not disappoint us. Fantastic host, great sense of humour, no pressure on what you have to do just very chilled out and relaxed. If you're a beginner or an expert it just works, Phil will vary the riding to suit, even in mixed ability groups. Extremely good value for money, great kit, well maintained bikes and absolutely there to make sure that you enjoy yourself. Now looking for dates for next year, says it all really !
Alan williams 20th October 2014
Phil is a great guide, caters to everyone's needs in riding ,with different terrains. Ktm's are in first class condition and keep that way. Clothing is in good in nick, and first rate. Food at lunch is great and in the town at night.I've had a great time with Phil and other riders that you meet. So go and see what a wonderful country Spain is away from the beaches.
Simon Ruddick 6th October 2014
I visited Riders of The Lost Trail at the last minute as a birthday treat. Phil was extremely helpful in getting everything arranged and making sure I fitted with the group he had ability wise. The whole set up was very professional and Phil explained everything about the bike, riding tips and safety before we set off. The trails were in a stunning area and I plan to return with a group of friends now I have experienced it.

Text: En kjempeopplevelse!
A great experience!
After having spent a week in Phils custody I am certain of one thing, this was amazing. From the moment we landed in Malaga to the return about a week later, this was a week to remember! Phil gives a great first impression that just continues to improve as the days passes. His focus on us having fun in a safe manner is something I really appreciate. And fun is something we had in abundance, from the first days awkward riding to the later days riding where things had improved to some degree. Slopes and roads that seemed impossible to traverse the first day where traversed without a second thought later in the week, the learning curve was obvious.
We were a bunch of five guys with different background on bikes, but despite this Phil managed to find routes that we all were able to ride and none of us were bored. The KTMs are simply astounding machines which we only tapped into a fraction the potential in, but still managed to have a blast. Phils focus on safety shines through when looking at the bikes and not to mention the riding gear he provides. The bikes were in good condition and well maintained, if something developed to not being 100% during the day, it was fixed the day after. The riding gear, KLIM trousers, jerseys, jackets and gloves, along with UFO armor and so on, were top notch!
The area Phil has at his disposal is nothing short of gorgeous, from tight hairpin turns to long sweeping gravel roads, and everything in between Cortes and the surrounding region is lush and beautiful at with the bikes we have access to areas not easily reached otherwise.
Also, the accommodation Phil offers is very good and Cortes has some restaurants where the food really is worth the few euros they charge.
All in all, I can really recommend a trip to Phil and The Riders of the Lost Trail!

For English read below.
There's a lot to choose from when it comes to trail riding, especially in Spain. Although I'm not sure how we ended up with Phil, but I'm really glad we did! We had a blast.
Phil is an honest guy and he goes great lengths in order to make sure you have a great experience. "Sure, of course, it's your holiday!" is what he'd say if we had a request about anything.
Since I'm rather inexperienced on trails and gravel I was a little afraid the trip would be too much for me, especially since Phil doesn't necessarily advertise himself as an "instructor" but as a guide.
However, Phil was a great guide as well as a patient and experienced teacher. I'm not fond of the class-type instructional offroad courses you get in some places where you go through techniques one by one, rider by rider. I want to hear about the basics and then I just want to try and go for it! Phil does exactly that and it worked out great for us!
I was able to learn quickly because I managed to stretch my comfort zone slowly but surely. Among the riders in our group there was a noticable difference in levels of talent. Surprisingly, everybody was challenged, nobody was either held back or pushed too far and this surprised me.
Now that I have gained some experience, I look forward to going back to Cortes de la Frontera (which is a stunning, rural part of Spain) to go and try all the stuff that we have yet to master!
Matt Hayter 1st October 2014
What a brilliant weekend- Phil really looked after us- no pressure for inexperienced off roaders and more advanced were well catered for- very relaxed with great food at lunch times- highly recommended - chill out but warn out weekend- Accommodation great as is the location proper Spain-so cheap and good food! we all wana come back!

I will start by saying that this was an experience that I can highly recommend to anyone considering trying dirt bike riding for the first time. I'm pretty sure experienced riders would also have a great time riding here too.
We were 5 guys that wanted to get some experience with off-road/dirt bike driving. We found "Riders of the Lost Trail"on the internet sort of by chance and just went for it. We arrived in Spain without any particular expectations for the five days we had booked, but after the first day we thought we had already gotten value for money, and still had 4 days to go!
Phil was an excellent guide and instructor. Although we all had different set of skills we all got challenged and developed us very much. Without really thinking about Phil had an ability to constantly expand our comfort zone, which led to fairly rapid improvement of driving technique and speed.
Besides driving the accommodation and food was great. The bikes were in excellent condition and the gear was very good too. Phil is very service minded and does his best to make experience as good as possible.
Paul Holland 27th September 2014
Had an amazing two days trail riding!!! Phil was a down to earth laid back guy, nothing was too much trouble for him and a great instructor... I learnt loads! Each person in our group had a different skill set and Phil catered for all. The bikes were brilliant and well cared for. If you are looking for riding great trails in a picturesque setting and an unforgettable experience then look no further! The only negative was that I wished I booked more days ;-)
Mark Holland 22nd September 2014
I was with 4 other riders who had some but little experience only one of our team had 14years of riding off road but I my self had no experience on trail riding Phil Wood who runs the company was very professional and gave excellent advise and only took you down trail which you could cope with, the scenery was out standing and well worth the visit. During the ride we stopped for lunch at which was good food and were Phil took interest in you
and got to know you, the motorbike were very well maintained and the protective clothing was of a high standard.I would recommend this to anyone.
Chris G 24th June 2014
Phil was excellent. As a trio we've done a number of trips to various countries and taking into account the sheer convenience from the UK, the quality of the bikes, the riding, the accommodation, price and the expert (and very considerate) guiding Riders of the Lost Trail comes out top. We'll be back for more weekend jaunts.
Trevor Harrison 11th June 2014
Had a great time, scenery amazing, bikes were all in tip top condition, trails varied to suit all abilities, loads of bike time with lovely restaurants for lunch stops. Phil was great guide and a top man. Sarahs bar was brilliant , we met some great characters from all over the world including 'John' alias Antonio who was a real laugh. Although i found the riding quite challenging mainly due to my lack of height on the bike i would love to go again .
Giles Whiteley 5th June 2014
We were always going to have a lot of fun on our three days boys trips to the Andalusian mountains to ride dirt bikes but the whole experience blew me away. Turning off the main highway and pointing our hire care into the hills it quickly became apparent that the area was absolutely beautiful. How had we never heard of this area? Why are there so few tourists? It is stunning. Gorgeous wooded hills with all sorts of trees including plenty of cork oaks.
The riding was just as great. The trails are varied and Phil our very amiable guide will select the routes according to the groups abilities or how knackered you all are at the end of the day! The bikes are all in great condition and well looked after; no dogs in the stable as there are with some companies. I had the KTM 450 which was full of low down torque to punch out if the corners. A lot of fun.
Highly recommended. I will go back.

Thanks for a fantastic three days of riding. just the right blend of terrain and speed to keep the fun high but the spills low! Excellent KTM 350 EXCs and great riding kit all thrown in to the price plus, when you're relaxed enough to look around, the scenery is stunning and the lunch is great too... what's not to like?!
Wayne Jackson 4th June 2014
This is by far the best trail riding experience, Phil has some great trails that offer some unforgettable views. He managed to cater for everyone in the group and offered great service. Loved the 350 Ktm's... Already planning a return trip:-)
Steve Raffield 4th June 2014
A fantastic trip. We were a group of riders with very average experience levels. I have to say, the whole experience was fantastic. The scenery in Southern Spain is some of the best I've seen. The accommodation was beyond expectations and Phil, our host and guide did everything he could to make us feel welcome and enjoy the holiday. The riding itself was intense but just what we were looking for from a biking holiday- I never felt under pressure or that I had to ride beyond my abilities. Would recommend and definitely revisit.
Mark Chambers 28th May 2014
What a trip......!!! Absolutely superb.
Phil is a great guide and instructor. I went out having never ridden off road before and by the 3rd day felt confident enough both up and down hill on all sorts of terrain. It felt like I was gunning it but I am sure it looked much better in my head than reality!!
Phil didn't swamp me with too much knowledge at once but built it up gradually as my skills and confidence increased.
The bikes and riding gear is first class and I did test the protective pads several times!!! This was due to my inexperience and no reflection on Phil or the bikes.
The accommodation is good and the lunches during the days rides are great with some great food at various restaurants with some amazing views.
I highly recommend anyone of any experience level joining Phil at riders of the lost trail.
Absolutely First class experience with a top class guy...........Just brilliant.
Crawford Ewing 9th May 2014
Just a quick note to say thanks. The days riding was everything we wanted. After one hour you had accessed our riding abilities and more or less said go for it. This was well suited to us and let the others in the group take a different route. The bikes and equipment,
First class, the 350 ktm is brilliant. I think I should save up for one!!!!, or realistically it could work out cheaper to fly and ride with you half a dozen times rather than buying a new bike!! The sunshine the endless trails and river crossings, first class. You offered everything we would expect and delivered without a doubt the best pay to ride enduro by far !!
Keep up the good work and see you next year.
Ps get even a wee feckin sign up mate!!!
Davey Jackson 6th May 2014
Thanks Phil for 3 great days riding
everything about the trip was first class
excellent trails in the most stunning surroundings
bikes and kit were faultless
excellent hospitality from yourself and the locals made this a trip to remember
Ian Brown 3rd May 2014
Absolutely fantastic time really pleased Neil chose Riders of the Lost Trail to celebrate his 60th, the trails and the bikes are brilliant and Phil does a superb job of judging ability and tailoring the riding to suit. The locals are very friendly which Phil has worked hard on over several years and the area beautiful with great views which would be impossible to find without Phil's local knowledge. The accommodation is faultless, based in the village with plenty of places to eat and have a cold one or two.
Cheers Phil that was one of the best experiences on or off bikes and will be enthused about for years.
Neil Douglas 3rd May 2014
Thanks Phil for 2/3 superb days riding, top quality kit,the 350 ktm's were amazing, cannot enthuse enough about the trails, views, friendly locals, lunch breaks and refreshments at night. Phil is a superb host. We will be back.
Gregory Hoy 2nd May 2014
Second time round for me which says a lot - loved it last year but now with the new bikes even better. KTM350 was excellent took on hills that previously wouldn't of attempted and felt I improved as a rider hugely much due to the encouragement of Phil who as ever was a great companion and the 4 lads from Belfast who arrived on the second day and blew us all away.
Didn't have much time but managed to squeeze in a great 2 days by leaving work 2 hours early on Friday and taking last flight back to Gatwick on Sunday.
Sure I will return soon.
Jeff 2nd May 2014
Excellent day's riding with Phil. First class host and guide.
The gear was top notch and the ktm was perfect for the job!
Been trail riding with a few other company's but Phil's
professional service makes this one of the best.
Great trail's and beautiful scenery perfect location.
Thank's again Phil for making sure everybody had a great day!

Back to the mountains for another round of "eejits on enduro's". The older we get the faster we were ! First time with Phil, won't be the last tho. The nice new 350's were ideal for the task in hand, well turned out and good quality kit supplied to match (untill Jeff scrapped a shirt) All dealt with in easy fashion. Phil did tell you not mess on the road sections! lol.
In true Irish form i'd left my phone at the hotel but we still all made it. The scenery and variety of trails were fantastic, plenty for all levels of experience.
Only issue we had was we couldn't talk him into another day out on the Monday, something about mot'n his car! You'll not get off so lightly next time Phil.
First class lunch also supplied.
Highly recommended,the "craic was mighty"
Alastair 14th April 2014
Yet again another great trip riding on what I have found to be some of the best range of terrain. Loved the new KTM's. All that dust and sweat just made that end of day pint so much better.
Richard Hall 20th April 2014
Rode with Phil a couple of times last year and had to come back again. All Phil's kit is first class and well maintained including the new KTMs which are a joy to ride. Top bloke, knows all the locals and tries to make sure that bikes are welcomed by the people who live in the area. Phil's enthusiasm is undiminished from last year and he is fitter that ever, wish I could say the same.

My only experience off road was 2 days riding in Lake District over 20 years ago so still a novice but being able to ride in beautifull & warm Andalucian region with Phil and learning from his guidance really brought my off road riding skills on leaps & bounds! by final 3rd day I felt very confident and able to tackle whatever lay ahead. A fairly physical but most enjoyable experience a world apart from road riding, location & accomodation was perfect, as a mini riding adventure i would recommend it.
Jeroen Proemstra 10th April 2014
Last week went riding with Phil for 3 days.
We have done many foreign off-road trips with our group, but must say this was really the best organized one. Phil is very professional and the bikes were perfect!
Riding was great in beautiful nature and views. Phil is a good guide and a lot of fun. We did many nice tracks and some extremer parts. However I might have hoped for a little more extreme stuff, but on the other side his tracks are very suitable for the less experience riders as well.
For sure a worthy recommendation.
Tony Bell 9th April 2014
Three days of superb food, beer, scenery and wonderful trail riding even for the beginner. Phil is a fist class host and guide letting us go at our own pace amazing how much we improved by day 3.Thanks also to the locals who welcomed us into the village and made very good company.Cant wait too get back again and get more air time!!

Our tour with -RIDERS OF THE LOST TRAIL-starting at Malaga the journey to Cortes de la Frontera took about 2,1/2hrs, a beautiful little village with the mountain backdrop, on our arrival we quickly met up with Phil who kindly offered a free beer and a warm welcome. Thereafter a little drive round the corner to our apartment that is very well laid out and clean and tidy also very modern, information about the whereabouts for restaurants and breakfast in the morning was given. DAY ONE , started with induction and sizing up for riding gear and most importantly & the main reason for going to Spain the KTM 350 EXC & (unable to get test ride in uk). Myself & Denis had been riding two strokes for many years in most forms enduro, trikes&sidecar; motocross and having little experience of four strokes, this being the ideal opportunity for thorough test ride,(and with the possibility buying new) the bikes are very well maintained credit where credits due Phil come a across with wide knowledge of his KTM's. Our first adventure was a steady ride to the trails and an assessment of riding ability and we soon settled into a steady pace & all the guys in our group had previous Offroad experience making the day a lot more fun. DAY TWO, was heading out to a goat farm at the top of a mountain with very narrow trails & a little too demanding for some (real enduro country)! The scenery was breath-taking, our request for more and more extreme riding was answered time and time again! DAY THREE, slow start with three new guys with no off-road experience some easy trails along the way but Phil still managing to give us challenging and entertaining routes to ride.
Denis Gosney 2nd April 2014
We were attracted to ride with Phil at the ROTL because of the new KTM 350 Four strokes and they were worth it - bags of grunt and peaky power if needed . Mixing the bikes with the trails that Phil has scouted, makes for a very enjoyable 'enduro' type riding experience . We used to ride dirt bikes every weekend locally but now there are few places to go in the UK. Thankfully that is not so in Spain and the terrain gives good hill climbs and water crossings as well . Not to forget the cheap beer/food and scenic views .
Ian Farquharson 31st March 2014
This was our third time riding with Phil. It actually gets better each time as we get to know some of the trails.
This trip we tried something new and rode to another town to stay the night. It was beautiful and the food was the best.
On top of everything we were blessed with fantastic weather every day.
I know we will be back.
Bob Stratton 29th March 2014
Third trip with Phil and, while I'm tempted to say he did his usual superb job, this trip seemed even better than that! The KTM's, some new trails, the "night spent at the other village" (ask him about this option!) and the amazing weather all combined to make it an even more awesome trip than the other two - each of which were superb.
See you next year.
Cecil 27th March 2014
WOW! Recently returned from my 2nd 4 day ride with Phil in the past 4 years and was even more impressed. The riding is fantastic, the accommodation's like home, good food and great people make this a repeat destination for me. I highly recommend Phil and Riders of the Lost Trail to anyone considering a riding trip in Spain.
Allan (big Al) Taylor 8th March 2014

Since all the justified praise has already been given in English, I might as well do my share in Finnish. Just for a change.
Rahoille saa takuuvarmasti vastinetta.
And a quick summary in English: perfect riding in the mountains, very well organized and highly professional, suitable for riders of all levels. Enduro in Spain doesn't get much better than this.
Gary Clarke 2nd March 2014
Great bikes, impressive trails, really good fun riding. Bugger skiing, this is easily the best way to spend a short holiday in the late February sunshine. Works well for different levels of rider. Great food. Friendly, no-hassle. Cortes and the surrounding villages are easy to reach and far more interesting than the coastal area of the Costa del Sol. My recommended trip is: Monday - cheap flight to Malaga and drive the coastal road to Estepona (keep off the E15), stopping at a few beaches. Tue/wed - riding bliss. thur - day off riding, go see Ronda and Gaucin towns. Fri - more riding bliss. Sat - cheap flight home. Late feb is perfect weather.
John C 17th February 2014
If you're after riding agile, great handling bikes and want to couple that with a vast network of trails in fantastic scenery then look no further. I'm already planning a return visit and I've only been back a week
Nick Weaver 16th February 2014
Just got back from a few days in southern Spain where I had a couple of days with Phil at Riders of the Lost Trail. Had two great days even though I managed to pick the week that Spain (and the rest of Europe) was being battered by storms. Phil is a great host, wants you to have a great time and goes the extra mile to do that.
The bikes are mostly KTM 350 EXC and there is one 450. All new and well maintained. Phil also provides all of the other kit you will need, Klim jacket and trousers, variety of boots and helmets, knee guards, goggles etc, all top kit and everything you need.
The max group size is 7 and as Phil is the only guide you get taken care of by the boss the whole day. Its important to him you get the most out of the day. I was lucky that I booked up for mid-week and at the last minute so I was the only rider! We did about 100km on the first day, deciding to cut it short as it was throwing it down after lunch. It was just what I needed, some gentle flowing trails as it had been nearly a year since I'd been on an enduro bike.
The area is a fantastic place to ride, it has everything, great trails, beautiful scenery and being based in the same village as where the bikes are based, everything is close by. The apartment to the workshop where Phil keeps the bikes is less than 10 minutes drive down the hill from the village and after getting kitted up it's 5-10 minutes on some back roads to the trails.
There's plenty of places to eat/drink in the village, all a short walk from the accommodation.
Menno vd Zee 12th February 2014
Steven Knighting 10th Feb 2014
I am relatively new to "trail riding" and this was my first time riding abroad.
Phil is a very welcoming friendly guy, who will take the time/effort to make sure you are looked after.
Our couple of days riding were great, first off getting kitted up with good quality riding gear, then onto the KTM's and onto some fantastic viewing points but more importantly the trails :)
Phil is good by catering for all types of riders, so you can make the day as easy or difficult as you like. We did a mixture of dirt tracks and most fun for me were some rocky hill climbs.
I had a fantastic time and can't wait to book a return trip :)
David Myers 9th February 2014
Well what can I say apart from "TOP CLASS" Everything was just so straight forward from the booking and ease of use web site to being picked up at the airport. Riders of the lost trail is an awesome setup with some the best trails around. A big thanks to Phil for a cracking weekend. Highly recommended.
David Powley 7th February, 2014
Have just returned from riding the Lost Trails and I didn't think i could enjoy it anymore from my first visit last year, but I did. The scenery, the food, the weather, the trails , the equipment , all superb with great riding companions and of course fab Phil who makes it all come together. We covered total new areas of stunning trails from last time . I can't fault it . So therefore can't wait to return very soon. Fantastic!!!
Shaun Kinnersley 6th February 2014
Everything was perfectly organised. We were met at the airport without delay and the accommodation provided was excellent, clean and appropriate to our needs.
As a complete off road novice I was slightly nervous about our trip but need not have worried as the support and advice given by Phil inspired confidence and ensured everyone had a fantastic time. The routes we travelled on were challenging for our level of experience and offered great riding and outstanding views.
It was a brilliant experience from start to finish and I will definately be booking again.
Matt Kinnersley 21st January 2014
Just want to say a big thank you to Phil on behalf of myself and the rest of our group.
We all a agreed that it was probably one of the best experiences we have had on any type of bikes ever. I loved every minute of it and was glad the weather held off for us. Everything couldn't have gone any better from pick up to drop off. I will DEFINITELY be coming back for another go and I will certainly be spreading the word of the time we had.
If you do start tours in Morocco, please let me know as I will definitely be up for it.
I could not find fault with the accommodation, bikes, equipment, trails or Phil's instruction/coaching. He tailors the days riding to suit each member of the group.
I will be recommending Riders of the Lost Trail to all of my biking friends.
Andy Campbell 21st January 2014
We had a brilliant 2 days riding. None of us had any off-road experience before this trip but the instructions were excellent. We were met at the airport as soon as we got off the plane and taken to a really nice apartment.
The bikes and clothing were excellent, the routes were fantastic with amazing views. We will be doing this again in the future and i fully recommend Riders of the Lost Trail to anyone.
Malcolm French 21st January 2014
At 59 and never done any off road riding before and having only had my road license 5 years i can honestly say the two days i spent with Phil and Riders of the Lost Trail have improved my riding skills and awareness substantially. The riding can be tailored for beginners, experts or a mixture of both but one thing will be guaranteed and that is all will have a tremendous time, you will be tired, exhilarated, happy and above all else you will know you have had fun and been tested to your own levels with no pressure put on you what so ever.
We went as a group of five and Phil quickly became part of the group. Every single thing was tailored to our needs with excellent equipment and machines, the accommodation was superb, i would say it was one of the smoothest running holidays I've ever been on. As a group we have done different things on our "Jolly Boys Outings" but i feel there would be no hesitation in repeating our Riders of the Lost Trail" adventure. Well done and very many congratulations Phil in having the foresight in setting all this up and letting it run so smoothly and making us feel so at home, at no time did any of us feel that we were part of a commercial enterprise in fact we felt we were just a group of bikers learning and having lots and lots of exhilarating fun and why not because that's what life is about.
There is just one very minor fault (there always is) and that is that your Star Rating only goes up to five because you deserve 6 out of 5. Thank you for a wonderful exhilarating 2 days.
Michel Hofman 13th December 2013
Second ride with Riders and the Lost Trail . First time i was already impressed by the area , the landscape ,and the capacity of Phil , our Tour Guide , to take into account everybody riding skills to prepare a nice ride that will fulfill all of our requirements . But i have to say we were privileged as counting on Phil services just the three of us. This time , we were merged with another group of two bikers and have to say that again Phil demonstrate his talent to provide us challenging rides, taking into account our wish while on the meantime never putting any of us in dangerous situation .
So if you want to go for a nice ride with a great and talented guide, in a wonderful landscape , don't hesitate one second more, go for it.
Graham Ambridge 21st December 2013
Just wanted to write a few words about the fantastic trip I've just been on in Dec 2013 with Phil and "Riders Of The Lost Trail". I had the most amazing time. The scenery and views are breath taking as was the riding. My off road experience was zero and i learned so much in the 3 days i was there. No pressure to do things I wasn't comfortable with even though we had a couple of other people who were very experienced. Everyone was there for the same reason - to ride, and they were happy to pass on their knowledge. Phil gave me tips all through the weekend to improve my riding. The accommodation was great - clean, warm and situated in a lovely village with bars and restaurants. Lunch and cafe stops were aplenty...and the Spanish know how to do coffee. Its so easy to arrange - Book on-line, get a cheap flight to Malaga (or another airport), 1.5 hr transfer (can be arrange for you). All the gear and bikes are provided. Simply fantastic. Cheers Phil
Olli Kettunen 2nd December 2013
I just had my first off road riding experience and like it a lot. We had a totally unbelievable day with Phil riding with Riders of the lost trail. The terrain is just perfect for off road riding and Phil is superb guide. I don't have experience for riding off road and Phil make me fell comfortable and we had a blast time. The views from the hills are totally must see so take your camera with you.
Definitely recommend for others!
Brian Causton 29th November 2013
I had a great couple of days riding with Phil. As an older rider, I was looking for a challenging, but safe riding experience, and Phil provided exactly that. The trails were fantastic, plenty of variety, there's terrain to suit all abilities. I've ridden with other groups in Spain, and Morocco, and these trails are the best. The KTM's are amazing, a leap forward from anything that I have previously ridden. All in all, a great experience, thank's to Phil's professional, friendly, leadership of the group.
Victor Lucas 29th November 2013
What an incredible 3 days riding! Really great trails and a unique location. Amazing scenery and hardly a soul to be seen in the hills. We had a mix of riding abilities and Phil is a great guide - he got the balance just right, finding trails to challenge us all without scaring the cr@p out of us! Hill climbs, water crossing, forest sections, awesome. Love the new KTM 350s. Great value. We will be back for sure.
Group MC Sportlust, Houtigehage, Netherlands. 20 Nov 2013
We had 4 days of great riding. Thanks Phil for the good care you took of us. We enjoyed it very much. Especially the sections that were more challenging for us as "semi"-experienced Enduro-riders. I wrote a small story about this trip on our own website: www.mcsportlust.com
It is in Dutch, but google translate can fix that :-) Also a lot of pictures (and awesome movie to follow later) as well.
John C 18th November 2013
What a great holiday - couldn't be better - bikes - tracks - scenery - accommodation - definitely coming back.
Heidi Stone 12th October 2013
Amazing couple of days off roading with Phil! This is the third time we've done this in Spain and undoubtedly the best. Superb trails, great bikes and a real balance between providing enough of a challenge for my partner who has been riding for over 30 years and myself having only been riding for 3 years (although I like to think I can hold my own)! Good accommodation, fantastic scenery, excellent bikes and a lovely location only added to the experience. We'll definitely be back and can't recommend highly enough. Phil was very professional, great fun, a good teacher and intuitively pitched our rides at just the right level. It doesn't get much better than this.
John Reynolds 11th November 2013
My partner and I spent a few great days riding the trails with Phil.
A genuinely nice guy!
He catered for my 30 years riding and my partners 4 years riding really well.
Giving her the confidence to tackle trails and keeping both of us interested.
The scenery was great as was the accommodation.
This is our third trail riding company we have used in Spain, and the best so far.
We intend to be back soon.
What more can I say !
Go try it for yourself!
Glyn Hughes 31st October 2013
Unfortunately my grasp on the English language is not quite good enough to express just how spectacular the scenery is around Phil's 'playground'. I had family with me who don't ride but were kept suitable entertained by the delights of Cortes de la Frontera and the surrounding area whilst I went off to play. For me the whole experience of riding along side Phil as well all the Dave's on the trip who all had varied levels of ability but were happy to share riding tips and try help rid me of my bad habits is probably worth 10 times what Riders of the Lost Trail charge. And the craic amongst the boys during our breaks to catch our breath and absorb the surroundings is an experience not to be missed. Riding up to the top of a mountain and looking down on the clouds really does make u feel on top of the world. So if your reading this and wondering if you should book up, my advice is just do it, after each days riding it left me feeling happier than a dog with 2 c@cks!!
David Johnson 31st October 2013
Thanks Phil for another brilliant holiday. For this, my second visit, I had five days of riding a selection of new KTMs and made many new friends. Phil was a master at planning routes that enabled people with a wide range of riding abilities to all enjoy themselves. I will be back for more fun in the future.
James Simpson 28th October 2013
A return trip to Riders of the Lost Trail and another fantastic three days of riding endless trails and challenging technical sections. Another 5 out of 5 and I'll be back for my third trip shortly.
David Wormald 28th October 2013
Thanks again Phil for an outstanding 3 days riding in your 'playground' ! The new bikes are fantastic, and as with the previous visit (and there will be more !) really enjoyed the varied terrain, the craic with you and the other riders, and of course the after ride 'beers' ! See you again soon ! Cheers David
Tony Winter 26th October 2013
Wow! 2nd visit, I came out in June and just had to return to try the new KTMs. Had 2 days out, day 1 with Tim and Stu, day 2 with Martin. I find it amazing that although I did not know the guys beforehand, we were very like minded and I had a great time with everyone. I struggled at first to decide whether or not the KTMs are better than the Suzukis, but when we got to the trickier stuff the KTM came into it's own, so a better all rounder. I had a helmet camera on and will be playing the videos over and over reliving the glorious rides. Thanks again Phil, it will not be the last time but will need the bruising to go down before my return.
David Powley 26th October 2013
Wow!!!! What a fab four days riding with Phil along the "lost Trails'. It exceeded all my expectations and then some. The other guests i met and rode with terrific and friendly.
I couldn't fault it and I therefore will return very very soon All the best Dave
Paul & Kay Myerscough 24th October 2013
Booked at very short notice. Two people with very different experience of Trail Riding.
Not a Problem
After being kitted out in top quality body protection and rider wear we were paired up with our bikes...Pristine , fully fuelled and ready to go.
The different riding styles and experience was not a problem to Phil our guide . We wound our way (some faster than others !!..Phil always looking out for me..I never noticed my husband look back once !) through the most magnificent scenery of Cork Oaks and Chestnut woodland. Lunch in a local 'White village' Cafe and home again.
Rough Dusty Loansome Trails.
A Grand Day Out
Neil Pattison 23rd October 2013
After being with riders of the lost trail 18 months ago with three friends Nic , Stu , Mick and myself. in aid of Nic`s 50th birthday bought by his wife.(lucky him).
We told others how great it was and that we would plan another trip out there some time.
So here we go again this time 7 in total.
This time myself Neil Pattison , Nic MacDonald, Stu Hanson,Micheal Swinburne Ben & Paul Mitchell,"dangerous Brian".
Phil picked us all up from the airport without any waiting around.
Drove us straight to our apartments very nice ours had a swimming pool.
Then let us settle in then came back with all our riding gear.
Meaning no delay in the morning all prepared and ready to tackle those big scary hills again."bring them on"
We have all been riding bikes together for some time.so we were a very tight group.
which meant Phil had to cover some miles. which he certainly did.
pushing us all to breaking a sweat or in Micheal`s case nearly having a heart attack!he was very red. lol.
What a brilliant three days of riding and enjoying some wonderful scenery.
Also enjoying some great restaurants on the trails and in the evenings.
If your thinking about trail riding abroad i would certainly recommend Riders of the Lost Trail.
Phil goes the extra mile to please his customers what ever their ability's.
I would like to say a big thank you to Phil and tail end charlie Richard both great blokes.
Robert Dowty 23rd October 2013
Everything exceeded my expectations and the trip was unbeatable value for money.
The location provides scenic and varied riding and the bikes and protective gear are first class.
Nice sized group, great lunch stops and lovely accommodation all add to the enjoyment.
Phil's attention to your every need is the "X" factor ensuring every rider gets a great time, both on and off the bikes.
Brian G 23rd October 2013
Does everything it says on the tin. trail riding in rural Spain on fantastic machines, on fantastic routes, no need to worry if your skill level isn't what you hoped it may be, as Phil shall build this into the day. Group size was not too big, not to be able to miss out on advice. should you consider going, take with you- sense of adventure and sense of humour. Shall be back.
Alan williams 22 Oct 2013
Three days of riding all sorts terrain to the top of mountains to the valleys .had a fabulous time.Phil was a great leader and trainer for all sorts of standards of riders.accommodation was first class, all equipment was top class including bikes.I will back next year .
John Mole 22nd October 2013
Just thought that I'd let you all know about the fantastic 3 days that I have just had with Phil and Riders of the Lost Trail. Right from step one of booking it couldn't have been any better. Phil runs a very professional but most of all super friendly outfit that cannot do enough for you, having been with other companies in Europe I can talk from experience. All the equipment from the excellent new KTM's down to the Klim gloves is in fantastic order and very well looked after and clean. The three days riding was fantastic from very fast flowing near motorway style trails to really knarly, rocky steep hill climbs all worked in to give you that "pleasantly challenged" feeling. But most of all Phil is just like one of the boys, like an additional mate on holiday with you, top bloke and top holiday. Book it now, I'll definitely be back.....
By the way he's also a purveyor of fine t-shirts !
Ben Mitchell 20th October 2013
Thank you for some of the best riding me and the other 6 lads have ever done. The variety of riding is truly amazing, there's a bit of everything. The first day we were on the fantastic fast flowing trails that seemed to last miles, then the second day we all enjoyed the tight single track and the 200 meter hill climbs where the brand new KTM 350 F just came alive. One of the main reasons I decided to book up with Riders of the Lost Trail was to test ride those bikes and they didn't disappoint, there are amazing and hands down the best dirt-bike I have ever. Not to mention the quality of the gear provided which is simply the best (klim).
The accommodation and local restaurants are fantastic and reasonably priced. There's not much more to say apart from that Phil and Rich were fantastic hosts and made us feel very welcome. Speaking on behalf of the whole group I would highly recommend Riders of the Lost Trail.
Cheers Phil and Rich
Stuart Duncan 20th October 2013
My third time in four years and my second outing on my own. But with RoLT you never feel like you're lone riding. Phil makes everyone feel at home and this is how it was with two others on their respective return lone trips. Great people in equally impressive surroundings. You can never get bored in this landscape and you'll always find something to challenge you. Awesome riding and i'll be back for a fourth trip very soon.
Bent Johnsen 10th October 2013
Thank you for three fantastic days of riding in wonderful weather and beautiful terrain.
You and Rich are a very strong team and you managed to orchestrate the riding in a way which was very adequate to our skills.
We had fun, excitement and a few times we crossed our own borders - all done in a manner where safety also was considered.
The accommodation were luxurious and functioned very well.
I'm convinced we will be back next year - and I will bring my son.
Lars Jepsen 9th October 2013
Just returned from what ultimately became an unforgettable tour in the mountainous Andalusia in the best of October weather and outstanding driving conditions! As a group of seven semi-seasoned riders, all holding high expectations to the terrain, the gear, the guidance, the social company, the weather, and the terrain and gear again, we ended an intense three days of hill climbing and the opposite in and around Cortes de la Frontera as a happy and indisputably content bunch of Riders of the Lost Trail! The professional, dedicated, hard working and very accommodating approach and leadership by Phil and Rich stand out as essential ingredients in making our trip one of a kind! If it all works out, we will be back in the seat with Phil & co in 2014!
Mogens Laursen 7th October 2013
Just want to tell how much I enjoyed the days with Riders of the Lost Trail.
Phil's ability to read our minds, our riding capabilities and our hunger to try out our limits both as individuals and as a group, was so much better but any motor biking I have ever tried before.
Its always difficult to recommend what others should do, but in this case, I am not in doubt that both for the skilled driver and for the less experienced its fun, challenging, energy taking and a so much to recommend to anyone who likes the joy of riding.
These guys at Riders of the Lost Trial are just the best of its kind!
Anthony 1st October 2013
What's there to say.. if you're reading through the testimonials you're probably already considering going out for a few days worth of off-road riding with Riders of the Lost Trail.
From the minute you arrive everything is ready. The accomodation was first class. Everything is provided, full armour, knee pads, gloves, boots, trousers, jersey, helmet and goggles. In the apartment, the fridge was stocked up with some milk, water, juice and even a few beers. You couldn't ask for more.
Once you've had your morning coffee and get out on the bikes, you'll find the KTMs are light and responsive. Phil has a wealth of local knowledge, some of the trails are quite easy, others are more challenging, and the views are always spectacular. You'll stop off for a breather a few times during the day and then stop for a well deserved lunch in the afternoon. Then it's back onto the bikes for more challenges and return to base for a well deserved beer after a long day on the trails.
Thanks Phil, gotta try arrange for a few mates to come back with me next year

Phil put everything into ensuring that we had 3 great trail riding days over a variety of terrains with some technical sections and hill climbs included. The routes took us high into the mountains and as well as the riding gave us a great overview of the countryside with its beautiuful hillside villages. The days were full and the lunch breaks taken at different mountain restaurants were always very welcome. The quality of the bikes (new KTM's) and the riding gear was first class and couldn't be faulted in any way.

What a great trip! We mixed 3 days riding with two days walking which enabled us to see a different side to the area.
Everything was really well put together. The accommodation was excellent and Cortes is a great base with enough amenities to keep things interesting.
The bikes and kit were superb. The riding was a good mix of terrain making it challenging but fun and just a bit knackering! Phil clearly puts his customers first and goes above and beyond when it comes to satisfying peoples expectations. Many Thanks Phil!

Einfach super. Jederzeit gerne wieder.

Phil, thanks again for the great tour!

I had an absolutely fantastic day with Riders of the Lost Trail; was lucky enough to be alone so was taken out for a full day by Phil, who could not have been more welcoming, helpful (especially when I managed to 'bend' the almost new KTM!) and knowledgeable about the area we were riding through.
The terrain was awesome, the trails fun and with varying degrees of technicality, never got boring.
I can't recommend Riders... enough and will definitely be back as soon as I'm in the area again.

What Sue said +1!
Three of us in the group had ridden Alaska's Dalton Highway together and arrived thinking "how challenging can this be after that?". About 15 minutes into day one, I had the answer. By lunchtime on day two, I needed a nap in the restaurant - and I wasn't the only one!
We had a superb time; Phil is a great rider, a really good guide and a fantastic host. He even brought his dog to dinner to help the animal lovers in the group cope with their separation anxieties.
Can't recommend RoTLT highly enough.

Does this only go as high as a 5 star rating? I'd give it a 10! Not sure how I want to write this but I'll begin with a huge thank you to Phil. What an amazing 3 nights - 2 days we had. The riding was incredible and I KNOW we saw very little of what you can offer!!!!
For those reading this, let me begin with our group. We had five rider ranging from NO off road experience to one that was pretty darn good. We all felt like we were pushed to our limits (and a bit past but I have to say Phil read our abilities perfectly). He did challenge us - and we complained at the time but cheered at our accomplishments! Even our best rider was taken on a few excursions alone which he came back whipped and exhilarated at the same time!!!
For the lesser skilled rider -- you're going to love this. Phil can show you some beautiful trails that are challenging enough but not overwhelming. If you want more -- NO problem. For the more advanced rider -- you're going to have a BLAST. Just to see a peek of what is out there was amazing. I certainly wasn't ready for some of that but watching Phil was an inspiration. There are many places that the more adventurous can shoot off and do some extreme hill climbs while the sane riders took the trail around!
I tried both the KTM and Suzuki (like the Suzuki better! which surprised me). All the bikes were in great condition as the gear so well although I'm still not feeling the capri pant look on me! :-)
Accommodations -- we rented the farmhouse since our group was large. Was fantastic and thank you to the owners. Wonderful spot - highly recommend if it's available.
Bottom line -- I'm happy for anyone to contact me with questions. I can easily say you will NOT be disappointed. You will be dirty and tired but hey, that's what it's all about. Would I do this again - YES and I hope I'm able to. I live in California so that won't be easy but if I have the chance - absolutely.
On our first day out, we went over a rocky gravel road area. I was slow and cautious as not use to this surface- new bike, etc. By the end of day 2 I was FLYING down this at 4x the speed thinking - Wow and I thought this was tough yesterday! Piece of cake!
Truly, a great experience.

Have been wanting to do this for ages and finally got a chance this June, crikey it was hot! I joined Paul and Al on their 4th day and had a blast, both on the bikes and with the people. Phil made sure we had some technical stuff to keep it interesting and also so that we could learn more how (not) to ride!! (thanks for the laughs, Al !!). The bikes were great and managed all that we literally threw at them, blasting above the tree line was a highlight. Definitely worth a return trip, see you soon, Phil.
Alastair Johnson 22nd June 2013
My time with Riders of the lost Trail was way beyond my expectations. The level and range of riding was fantastic and really pushed myself (relative novice) and friend (long time rider) during the whole time. I came away having done things that I didn't think I was capable of. Everything from the Airport to the accommodation was great. All done as if it we were all just a group of friends having a great time.
Thanks Phil, I think you are going to have to put up with us again.
Tim Black 11th June 2013
Where to begin! Totes amazeballs pretty much sums it up....this was my fourth trip with riders of the lost trail and as usual was a one day event taken out of a 1 week family holiday on the coast! The Beauty of the place is honestly second to no where else in the world I have ever been! It's so handy from the coast anywhere from Marbella to Gibraltar is a fantastic 1 to 1.5 hour drive up into the mountains. The day starts in Cortes de la Frontera from there Phil and I agreed we would spend the day finding new trails and I have to say it was my best trip yet with Phil! The pace of life in this part of Andalucia is just so laid back, and every single person we encountered was utterly friendly and welcoming. It's such a beautiful and mountainous area that really the only way to take it all in is on a dirt bike. We spoke to about 5 men during the course of the day each of whom told us about their first motorbikes which proves how welcome bikes are in this part of the world!
The first man we met was working in a cafe/ bar! Phil has excellent Spanish and the bar man suggested we head down to a track he frequents on his trial bike! It was amazing 18 inches of dirt carved into the side of a ravine which got our hearts racing!
The next local we met in the lunch spot suggested we take a track down to the rive bed, Phil calls them toboggan runs and it pretty much hits the nail on the head as it's a winding 3 foot wide and 3 foot deep run channel carved into the hill side by people and donkeys and Mother Nature who all combined to make dirt biking utopia that stretches on for 20 minutes and will have you laughing your head off!
Okay I better stop talking but anyone who has ever ridden a a bike on or off the road needs to get their asses over to Riders of the Lost Trail and try this out. Go for a week or just take a day away from the coast I promise you won't be disappointed and it really is great value. All the gear the bike and your lunch all you need is your camera and an interest in seeing Spain how it's supposed to be seen... On 2 wheels ripping through the hills!
Donna Campbell 11th June 2013
First proper experience of trail biking (unless you count the horrific road conditions in Vietnam on what was basically a shopping trolley with a lawn mower engine attached!) and absolutely loved it! Lots of mixed terrain and gradients and loads of stunning scenery with quite a few crazy hairpin bends along the way! Added bonus is that Phil really looks after you gastronomically as well. Stopped off in the middle of the day and had a delicious 3 course lunch followed by a coffee to perk you up again for the second half of the day. If you are in any way shape or form into your bikes and your heading to Spain, definitely book yourself onto this! As i say i'm not experienced on trails and took part alongside 2 other guys (one of which was my more experienced bike riding half) with Phil leading the way and couldn't have felt more supported and encouraged along the way. Muchas Gracias for a fantastic and memorable day Phil!

The Best Just Got Better!
This is my second trip to this beautiful and unspoilt corner of Spain. The riding just gets better and better as Phil adds new routes and extends existing ones. The riding is a varied - easy to technical - as any one can want. Phil is a fabulous host and guide; nothing is too much trouble as Riders of the Lost Trail provide a total experience - great riding, top equipment and fantastic restaurants.
I will be back in October for my third visit to try out the new KTM's, if you want to experience great off-road riding on top quality bikes in a exhilarating environment then I advise you to try Riders of the Lost Trail - you will be back!
Rob Coe 14th May 2013
We had a great and exciting time with Phil guiding us around some wonderful trials and hiil climbs. There's a great mixture of riding from easy trials to impossible (to me!) hill climbs. Most stages had an easy or a challenging route so there was plenty to keep us more experienced riders happy whilst allowing the others to keep up.
Bikes were great. Well maintained and easy to ride. Safety gear all good quality too - as it needed to be!
Phil's a top bloke too - happy to let us just get on with the riding but always there to help out when needed.
Food and accomodation also very nice, so all in all a great couple of days! Cheers Phil!
Antsy Swallow 11th May 2013
Just come back from 3 days riding in the Spanish mountains with Riders of The Lost Trail, what a fantastic experience! The whole setup is amazing, Phil, the guy that runs it is an expert on all the local tracks and trails of the area and generally very knowledgeable about the local flora, fauna and history. The weather was superb, great lunch every day in a different local inn/restaurant (he knows all of the best ones)
and staying in a very clean and comfortable apartment in the small town of Cortes de la Frontera. What took my breath away was the scenery as you're riding, absolutely spectacular, and far greener than I expected! Phil himself is a very accomplished trail rider, equally at home coaching complete novices (like me) as he is showing top riders how to get the best out of their time there. I watched him do two, near vertical, hill climbs that I would have thought impossible. The bikes are Suzuki DRZ400s and proved to be bulletproof (I did erm... several tests to verify this) and easy to ride. He's getting some KTM EXC's in soon that should be even better! All in all a fantastic experience and one that I'd love to do again, thoroughly recommended.
Sam Rue 16th May 2013
Going onto this tour I was a bit optimistic as to what to expect with it. I wasn't sure what level of riding would be needed or what type of terrain we would be riding on. But it was a mixture of everything which was brilliant, there was fast pace riding through the mountains which was awesome and also slow and technical parts which really tested your abilities. Overall this was a fantastic experience and I would happy do the same course again! I would recommend this to anyone no matter their level of riding off road!

James Clark - Baildon 25th April 2013
What an absolutely fantastic trip! With very little off road experience Phil tailored the 3 days to suit me perfectly, raising the bar once he could see that my confidence was growing. This meant we were able to cover a variety of routes with the terrain ranging from flowing forest tracks to steep inclines and descents and the odd boulder field (left that one to Phil!).
Each day we were served with delicious 3 course authentic Lunch in one of the many beautiful mountain Pueblos Blancos (Andalusian White Villages). The accommodation is located in an elevated position in the small town of Cortes de la Frontera. The apartments are first class with everything you will ever need, even free WIFI. In the village there are many Tapas Bars and Restaurant's to relax after an exhilarating days ride.
Phil is truly a superb guide and host with great local knowledge and a fantastic rapport with his local villagers and farmers.
I would strongly recommend this to any Bike enthusiasts, and if you are not one yet, then learn as you will have the time of your life!.
Forget the Costa's this is the real Spain and I will be going back soon for another fix!.
Tim Lamper 25th April 2013
This was my first trip riding off road and I really enjoyed it. Phil is a great coach and gave me some easy tips to improve my riding technique giving me loads of confidence that allowed me to improve tremendously over the 3 days.
We had a fantastic time riding in the beautiful mountains surrounding Cortes de la Frontera, The trails are great with lovely villages and good restaurants enroute.
The accommodation was excellent and the local bars and restaurants great to wind down in in the evening
I highly recommend Phil, his knowledge of the local trails and interaction with the local people are second to none and he lead us through some awesome scenery and riding terrain.
We will definitely be going back!
Matt Green 23rd April 2013
I've recently got back from 2 days of riding and already looking at when we can come back!
The bikes are top quality, well protected and are perfect for the trails ridden. The gear is super comfy and as I proved, do protect you well!
Phil is a top bloke and really cares about you having the best experience possible.
When is says 'lunch is provided' its not wrong; After a few hours blasting through trails in the middle of nowhere we stopped for lunch at a cracking restaurant for lunch overlooking the valleys, fresh olives followed by a 3 course meal...and there was us expecting a packed lunch!
Cant praise this experience enough!
It's great for beginners like me or well experienced riders, the trails are tailored to suit by Phil's excellent knowledge of surrounding area.
See you again for sure!
Richard Hall 23rd April 2013
A thoroughly enjoyable weekend , Riders of the Lost Trail provide a very personalised experience. Phil listened to what I wanted to do and tailored the weekend accordingly, at the same time he managed to match the riding to suit my level of experience. The equipment is first class and the bikes very well maintained with plenty of protection to ensure that, even if one (not me obviously) were to drop a bike, you do not spend the next 20 minutes finding the parts to fix it. Phil is a VERY capable rider and we did some very challenging stuff. My mate , would is a novice joined us on the second day, Phil was encouraging and gave simple instructions, so that by the end of the day my friend was doing stuff he would not have even attempted at the beginning of the day. I will be coming back!
Lewis Calcott 22nd April 2013
I booked this with a friend after reading the glowing reviews and with having little off road experience I didn't want to feel pressured into riding out of my comfort zone holding up large groups of people. Needless to say Phil was a great host and teacher who showed us everything we needed to know over the glorious 2 days riding.
The weather was absolutely beautiful and after an off on the first day whilst coming down a hill doing some more challenging sections I had a bad wrist so we took it steady on the second day through the beautiful flowing cork forest. Phil handled the situation very well in terms of his first aid response and knowledge, although he probably wasn't expecting to have used his medical kit twice in two days! Kids, eh.
The amount of change in scenery and landscape is astounding, around every corner is a completely different scene which makes the riding hugely varied.. there will be something for everyone, from complete beginners like me to an enduro champion. Within 5Km of a single point you could go from loose rocks and steep inclines to swooping forest trails. It truly is amazing.
Phil is a great guy and was genuinely concerned about making sure we had the best time possible and tailoring the riding to suit our wants.. We are the youngest people he has had riding with him at 22 and was thoroughly interested in what we do and our work back at home.
The bikes are really well maintained and are very well protected. We had our fair share of offs and the bikes coped very well with them. The DRZ's are very torquey and are capable of doing far more than I could! The gear is all Klim, very pricey stuff which fits great and is comfortable to wear all day even in the heat
The accomodation was great with good facilities and stunning views of the hills
I'll definitely be booking again in future
John C 22nd April 2013
I've now ridden with Riders of the Lost Trail for a week in each of the last four years. Always look forward to returning. Consistently of a top standard. Bikes are well maintained, the riding's really varied, the scenery"s amazing and above all it's great fun.
Andrew Flude 17th April 2013
Can't believe what a great couple of days i just experienced with Phil at Riders of the Lost Trail. Having lived in Andalucia for over a decade, I knew what an amazing place it was but after a few days in the sierras with Phil I fell in love with it all over again. The opportunities to have days of 130 km tracks through amazing countryside, with brilliant chances to improve my off-roading skills at every bend was a real break from the everyday. Nowhere better to have a coffee or menu del dia than the villages that Phil knows so well, and I made some pals for life. Totally fantastic riding.
Matt briggs 17th April 2013
Had an amazing two days riding and learn't more about off-roading and riding than ever before! Phil's local knowledge of trails was unbelievable and the fact he is integrated into the community makes the whole stay and trip so authentic. His passion for riding and finding trails is infectious and i'll be sure to go back for more! It really is more than just a bike ride, its the full package of local knowledge, beer and wine and banter after that makes this stand out from the crowd! Thanks for the memories and living life to max! Matt
Ian Bennett 14th April 2013
Being a novice to trail riding and having not enjoyed my first experience I was very nervous about having another go. Thankfully, I was more than happy after trying a different company (Riders of the Lost Trail). Phil offered friendly advice, tips and encouragement throughout the day, taking time to point out difficult moments along the trail but yet encouraging me to give it a go. At no time did I feel out of my comfort zone and I had a thoroughly enjoyable day, I'll certainly be looking to go back.. soon.
The bikes were well maintained with lots of additional safetyguards on and the clothing and equipment was first class, so there was no wasted waiting around to fix it.
Gregory Hoy 11th April 2013
I arrived with high expectations and I'm really pleased to say my trip exceeded them in every way. Phil was a great host much more than a guide I enjoyed his company and his advice on the trails was excellent. The accommodation was clean comfortable spacious and had fantastic views over the valley.
My bike was tight and clearly well maintained and more than enough for everything asked of it. I only had a couple of days but we covered lots of ground the scenery in parts was spectacular.
I left knowing that I would return soon.
Geoff Reid 10th April 2013
I have to admit that I was intimidated by my mates off road riding skills, so much so that I was turning down opportunities to go on off road riding holidays with them. So I decided to sneak away and get some practice.
I found RoTLT on Trip Advisor and on short notice booked a day of riding with Phil. I met Phil in the morning, handled the paperwork over a nice cafe con leche and we were off to get kitted up. The gear (Klim), the bikes (DRZ400's), and the organization of the ride was top notch. We kitted up and headed out to the trails. Although he doesn't market as a training group, Phil was kind enough to provide helpful instruction on riding technique and slowly build the difficulty of the terrain to match my developing abilities.
I highly recommend Phil and his company to all levels of riders, there is no better way to experience the beauty of this area of Spain (and to gain some great riding skills). Give him a call.
Ian Farquharson 30th March 2013
"Just spent another 4 days riding with Phil. 3 of us came back after a fantastic trip 2 years ago.
Second time around was even better - especially being a bit more familiar with the trails and knowing what to expect.
Despite his business being more established and successful, Phil still provides the personal touch (which was why we came back in the first place).
Small groups only and plenty of personal attention regardless of your skill level is what makes "Riders of the Lost Trail" special.
I'm sure we will be back many more times
Cheers Phil - great trip!"
Stuart from Toronto 29th March 2013
The Toronto Boys are back again. Riding with Phil at Riders of The Lost Trail was the best experience ever. The roads, trails and vistas around Cortes de la Frontera are great. We had a diverse group riders and Phil catered to us all, taking us on a variety of challenging trails, riding up front to make the faster guys do the chase and then riding at the rear and giving tips to the less experienced riders. He making it fun for us all. The accommodations Phil set up for us were also top notch. There's no such thing as more than 100%, but Phil gets points on top of that for good gear, good food and great company. :))
Tim Johnson 26th March 2013
Just wanted to say a really big thank you from Craig, Jerry, Lek and myself for three of the best trail riding days we have had for a very long time, despite the weather which actually added to the fun.
It makes a refreshing change to find a company that puts customer satisfaction way ahead of company profit.
The bikes and riding gear were proven to the extreme with all the unexpected rain and mud, but like i said, this made for a trip to remember.
Accommodation was first class, and the bar / restauraunt in the village can be highly recommended.
We look forward to our next visit later in the year.
Cheers Phil, take care keep up the good work.
Very best regards,
Tim, Craig, Jerry and Lek.

This is a great company that I can fully recommend. We were collected from the airport on time and taken to the excellent apartments. Our three days riding were great in spite of the awful weather. The tracks around Cortes are wonderful with fantastic views and varied surfaces.
Phil is well known by the locals and everyone was most friendly to us.
If you want a great off-roading experience look no further!!
Bob Stratton 24th March 2013
Just finished my second trip with Phil and can't wait for the third! Our group of four had a wonderful time: the riding was a blast; Phil was educational, funny and a pleasure to ride with; the bikes were great; and the scenery was amazing. Andalucia is a biker's paradise.
Like our first experience with Phil, everything was top notch and aimed at our enjoyment. I highly recommend Riders of the Lost Trail to anyone.
Ron Winacott 24th March 2013
Four days of some of the best riding I have ever done! This was the second time going back to Spain with the other "Toronto Boys", and I have to say it only gets better the second time. Now that Phil knows us and our riding abilities, the trails only got better.
The ride through the cork forest was great. New trails we had never seen before, and even the trails that we did ride on the last trip were different. The trails are always changing adding a sense of new rides each time.
I will be back again for my third time to ride with Phil and riders of the lost trail.
Had the time of my life again, and can't wait to do it again. Thank you Phil for a great week of riding in Spain.
Dave Clare 21st February 2013
Let me say right from the start this is my third visit to Riders of the Lost Trail in Cortes de la Frontera and again I was not disappointed and had a fantastic time.
Where to start?
This part of the world is amazing around every turn and over every mountain the scenery changes, the people remain warm and friendly towards strangers turning up in their little white villages on dirt bikes.
The bikes. These Suzuki's are immaculately maintained and presented, they didn't falter once, even after being dropped, slid down hills and in my case submerged. These yellow machines took me up, over, and down stuff I wouldn't have thought possible.
Boots, helmets, body armour, trousers, jackets all top quality and makes you feel the part riding about in Klim jacket and trousers. All you need to bring is a base layer and socks.
The trails. I'm a beginner when it comes to riding a motorcycle off road but within a hour of setting of you relax into it, the bikes are perfect and once you start to trust them you can not wait to get off the pisted dirt trails then on towards more serious ground. Over the course of your visit there are river crossings, steep hill climbs, loose dusty ground, rocky and boulder-strewn mountains. At every stage Phil, your guide, keeps you right offering tips and encouragement.
This brings me on to Phil the owner and main guide of Riders of the Lost Trail. Here is a man at home on a dirt bike doing what he loves with an amazing knowledge of the huge area you would be riding and sharing his passion and enthusiasm with others. His joy at seeing people developing confidence and having fun is obvious.
The bikes, equipment, food, the trails and weather are all excellent, what makes Riders of the Lost Trails is the quality guiding, the care and attention given to the clients.
Highlights for me? Sitting on top of a mountain tired and sore with a big grin on my face looking back at the valleys and ridge we crossed that morning and knowing we have a lot more to do. And sitting having a beer at the end of the day while swapping stories.
I can not recommended Phil and Riders of the Lost Trail enough!!.
OK, there is one negative point; you will be aching and sore after 3 days riding.
Nick 13 February 2013
Excellent days riding, good rapport already built with host Phil prior to arriving via e-mail. Full days ride along varying tracks, which were one minute level and then climbing/decending daunting gradients. The whole day along with good advice on off road riding techniques has given a new confidence in this new discipline of riding for me. I have no hesitation in recommending 'Riders of the Lost Trail' for a great enjoyable value for money full days off road riding.
Max Grangaard 04 February 2013
From the moment my brother and I arrived at the airport in Malaga until our final departure, our guide, oufitter and host, Phil Wood, owner and operator of Riders of the Lost Trail made our stay an amazing experience both on and off trail. Phil took care of all of the logistics and made sure that all travel-related problems were taken care of, like lost luggage and pick-up/drop-off service from the airport to our little Spanish town Cortes de la Frontera, some two hours away.
Our accommodations could not have been any better. Not knowing exactly what to expect prior to arrival, I was more than pleasantly surprised at our temporary home. Our apartment boasted sweeping panoramic views of the mountains we'd be riding, and a picturesque foreground high atop the village. I don't think there were better views offered from any other vantage point than ours. It was also quite convenient to be able to walk to any and all restaurants, bars and other stores within the quaint "pueblo blanco".
As for the riding, it was nothing other than spectacular. Having never ridden off road in any other environment than the woods of Minnesota, and the deserts of SW USA I was awestruck by the scale of the mountains in Andalusia. They were far more rugged than expected, and more lush too. From the arid mountain peaks, to the cork forests and deep river valleys there was more than enough diversity in terms of terrain. The best part was the fact that we could access anything and everything for miles and miles, with only short jaunts along the switchback paved roads, which were fun in and of themselves.
The service provided by Riders of the Lost Trail simply could not be matched by any other tour company. Phil has made a point to remain small, offering a highly personalized, custom-tailored experience. Any concerns about mixed riding styles/skill levels often present among larger tours are non-existent when riding with Phil. Each day's riding is designed to meet his clients' individual requests, and is well thought out in advance. Possessing a gps-like mind, Phil always knows where he's going and where there might be a nice rustic place to stop for lunch or coffee along the way. A professional photographer, Phil makes a point to take many photos/videos along the way and provides them at the end of the trip, making the experience that much more memorable, and more convenient than constantly reaching for your own camera at every vista.
I have already begun to make plans for next year, and hope to bring my Dad along next time around as well. The service provided by Phil greatly exceeded my expectations, and Cortes de la Frontera proved to be a wonderful place to visit and spend time when not on the bikes. If anyone is looking for an amazing riding experience in an exotic and utterly beautiful environment look no further than Phil Wood's Riders of the Lost Trail.

There are in life , if your lucky enough a few real stand out WOW ! Moments that you'll take with you forever, Those of us with a dirt bike orientation or any one with the faintest inckling let me let you into my little secret, I've have found dirtbike Nivarna , Mr Phil Wood , now to be referred to as Sir Phil is a Gent of the first degree, not only does he provide a first class personal service from pick up to departure , your made to feel that your well being is his first priorty every step of the way , from your morning coffee enroute to pick up the bikes , to the post ride beer it's a pleasure all the way , a kinda dirtbike ROCK STAR SERVICE if you will.
Even without the riding I'd go back , the small groups Phil arranges feel like old buddies getting together it's so relaxed , even for the lone solo traveler .
Now The Riding:-
Words can not easily explain the terrain the vistas & the out & out fun you'll experience in Cortes de la Frontera , Whilst riding the trails you really do have to stop & pinch your self now & then to realise what your doing & where you are, it really is a dirt bike Heaven , the long sweeping mountain edge tracks & tracks through the woods for me were my favourite , relaxing & fun , the hill climbs that were taken " mostly " with ease were quite frankly a revelation , only now a week or so later has the scale of our achievements sunk in , our group which comprised of " sir Phil " my buddy Sean & I and Chris Trevatt who has been before but this time came out on his own , all were looking for different aspects of riding , not an easy task for Phil , however he pulled it off admirably , you could point Sean at a block of flats & he would get up it on his bike , me well let's just say my racing days were a while ago & although I've started a little green laning at home I prefer the gentler more relaxed pace , Chris was in my camp & we had a ball, his main motorcycling was on the road & I think he would agree with me if I said the transition was interesting , we all had a Fantastic time & all learned an awful lot & all had our own eureka moments , Phil tailor's each ride with the vibe of the day , gives unlimited support & advice " should you need it " ,
For me the whole experience evoked childhood feelings of when I first got interested in Dirt Bikes in my teenage years , reading American Dirtbike & wishing we had places like that to ride ! " WELL WE HAVE "
It's called RIDERS OF THE LOST TRAIL, riding in the UK now is becoming a real pain , restrictions & attitude towards even responsible riders is at an all time low , as I member if the TRF " Trail Riders Federation " I have first hand knowledge of this & it's getting worse , In Cortes Farmers encountered on the way would move 100 + goats out of your way if possible with a smile & pat you on the back as you passed & were genuinely pleased to see you , Old lady's waving to you as you passed their occasional cottages , So please do your self a favour get yourself down to this most beautiful part of the world , the Riding , the people , the Food is excellent , but not TOO many of you now , save space for me now ,
HEY CHRIS ! Same time next year buddy , Graham Saunders

You might think that an experienced veteran rider who races a KTM 150 in most of the Welsh enduros would not have much to gain from four days riding a DRZ400 around a few trails in Spain, but you'd be wrong.
Phil has found and learned hundreds of miles of fantastic trails which provide a great range of experiences from easy going tracks through the beautiful cork woods to gentle or steep rocky climbs that reward you either way with incredible views over southern Spain, Gibraltar and Morocco.
Phil has come up with a formula which provides a fantastic riding and holiday experience. Each day kicked off with coffee, then 60 or 70 kms of riding with stops whenever you want, lunch at a welcoming restaurant, another 50 or 60 kms, closed off at the end of the day with a refreshing and well earned beer. In addition, Phil seemed to know almost everyone we met, so there were many friendly exchanges along the way.
The riding kit he provides is first class , he provides the same UFO body armour that I race with. I've been looking for a decent waterproof jacket for enduros ever since Sinisalo went out of business and the Klim kit definitely fits the bill.
Which brings me onto the bikes; the DRZ's are well prepared and in excellent condition. Any preconception that I had about them being ,just trail bikes, were soon dispelled as soon as we reached the remote tracks away from civillisation and were able to up the pace. The Suzuki really impressed me. The riding position is excellent, especially when stood up. The bike is heavier than my feather light KTM (the lightest enduro bike you can buy), however the extra weight didn't hold me back and I had an absolute ball and was able to make full use of the very capable suspension. I found that tough technical trails could be ridden at trials pace or attacked at high speed without the drama that I sometimes get with my race bike; no head shake, easily controlled power slides and plenty of mid range to launch out of the corners or up the rockier hill climbs that Phil was able to find for us.
So, the riding was fantastic, but that's not all, Phil looked after everything else , including great conversation, airport pick up and superb accommodation in the beautiful town of Cortes. I'll be back, probably with some friends, because the experience with Phil is not to be missed. Cheers mate!

Thanks Phil, what a fantastic 5 days riding, I enjoyed every second.
The riding is varied:
Fast flowing forest trails
Everything one could ask for, technical and non-technical trails, something for everyone.
The bikes are perfect and together with Phil's expert tuition - he has the patience of a primary school teacher - great food and accommodation this was an experience to remember for me.
I will be back!
Tim Black 21 Oct 2012
This was my third trip out with Phil and once again it was outstanding! The vast area which Phil seems to know inside out is so dramatic and picturesque it makes for a breathtaking backdrop! I am a regular visitor to the area but quite honestly the only way to take it all in is on 2 wheels. Phil is a real pro and will tailor the days riding to suit both ability and appetite on the day! If you want to go fast you just ride up close behind and he will push on and if you feel like backing it off then he is more than happy to match. The bikes are brilliant! I have a wr250 f at home in Ireland and I love it's lightness and nimbleness but the steady chug ability of the DRZ is perfectly matched to the terrain and distances covered on a day in the south of Spain for anyone who is thinking about a tour with ROLT just go ahead and do it if I could give this 6 stars I would!
Jez Smith 14th October 2012
What an absolutely outstanding few days! Phil took us riding in the stunning mountains around Cortes and the whole experience was fantastic. Phil is a great guide and host, taking us to some brilliant technical trails and then to a gig on a garage forecourt (surreal!).
The area was superb for riding with a great variety, from open sweeping tracks with panoramic views to really technical climbs and descents. The bikes were well prepared and ideal for the job, and now with a bit of help from us, Phil has first hand experience of getting a bike going after it has been drowned! Undoubtedly the best biking trip I have taken.
Francois Minnaar 09 October 2012
To my mind there are four types of motorcycle trails:
(1) Endurance trials - fast riding over demanding terrain.
(2) Technical trails - slow riding over demanding terrain.
(3) Rapid trails - fast riding over effortless terrain.
(4) Relaxed trails - slow riding over effortless terrain.
Until recently I thought it impossible to encounter all four trails in a single day. That was until I went riding with Phil from Riders Of The Lost Trail.
Riding with Phil makes is possible to experience the following in quick succession:
(1) Endurance trail riding : rocky straights (with lots of up hills, down hills and corners) and extended hill climbs.
(2) Technical trail riding : rivers crossings, old goat trails, and riding where no trail existed previously.
(3) Rapid trail riding : sweeping dirt roads chasing over mountains and cutting through forests.
(4) Relaxed trail riding : well packed dirt tracks offering majestic views of the Andalucian countryside.
However, be aware that Phil is more than just a very competent trail rider. Phil is also
# a host who starts the day with a (small) strong coffee and ends it with a (large) beer,
# a guide that insists on opening and closing all the farm gates encountered along the way,
# a riding companion who won't mind if you stop for a drink of water or a photo session,
# a biking buddy that cleans and maintains the bikes at the end of every day.
Phil is a caring people-person that will go out of his way to make sure you get the most out of your Riders Of The Lost Trail experience.
Together with Riders Of The Lost Trail you will encounter:
# Natural beauty that cannot be described in words or captured on film.
# A local population that is friendly towards dirt bikers.
# Pleasant villages.
# Enjoyable lunches taken in the villages encountered along the way.
# Top class accommodation in the Apartamentos Quercus.
It is sometimes necessary to traverse short sections of tar road in order to hop onto a new trail which only serves to heighten the biking experience.
I spent five days riding with Phil which gave me ample time to evaluate the kit provided by Riders Of The Lost Trail. The verdict: the Suzuki DRZ400E is a very capable trail bike that is easy to ride and the protective gear is of high quality and extremely comfortable.
I have only one complaint, and that is the distance between Riders Of The Lost Trail and South Africa (where I reside).
Am I looking forward to my next five day ride with Riders Of The Lost Trail? FOR SURE!!!!

Thanks again for an outstanding 3 days on the bikes !! We had a great time, thought the 'playground' you have there was spot on and will definitely be back next year. Really liked the whole set up you have there, from the airport pick up, through the organising and quality of the bikes and gear to the fantastic riding you showed us (and the craic over a few beers at the end of a day rounded it off nicely).
See ya soon !

What a fantastic day out. The best grin factor a lad could have. Haveing never ridden a real trail bike ,nobblies an all, this was for me a first. The bikes were all preped ready for take off when Phil met me at their base, and so was all the Kit you can imagine for a days trekking ,boots ,protectors adventure suit and all, sizes for every shape. We were soon off into the most beautiful terrain, and headed for a days riding into the great natural park (cork oak forest). You have to see this place to believe it,ancient trees covered in moss and ferns, river valleys and of course, the trails themselves. There is something to suit all levels of rider skill.
Phil is a very competant guide and very helpful in hints and tips to improve your riding skill, also very encouraging.
The bike was amazing in the rough and smooth, very confidence inspiring with ample power and fuel capacity,125km on the day,. Cant wait to go back and experience that grin factor again.

Living on the Isle of Man we have access to lots of green lane riding but having spent three days with Phil blasting around the andalucian countryside, with the most beautiful mountain backdrops, riding back on the island seems very restricted. 130kms a day of fantastic trails interspersed with technical sections and some ferocious hill climbs. The DRZ400s are the perfect bike for this and Phil's equipment is top class (Klim) so no need to take anything with you. We stayed in the self catering apartment in the centre of Cortes. The Gecko Hotel has now closed so this was the first time the apartment has been used by client's of Phil. The apartment was spot on and there are lots of decent restaurants within a couple of minutes walk. Altogether a great 3 days and Phil is a top class host and guide. Well deserved beers and banter at the end of each day. I'll be back.
Adrian Lucking 12th September 2012
Just spent a fantastic day with Phil riding in the Andalusian mountains. Having limited experience off-road, I received all the correct advise, and with fantastic safety kit It was an adrenalin filled day.
Thank you Phil for getting me off the road bike into beautiful countryside. With a lovely lunch to gather strength in a tiny whitewashed village, and those cold beers at the end of the day, I feel ready to try the more challenging routes that you have.
Thanks again for a brilliant experience in a stunning part of Spain.

From the first greet to the goodbyes, Phil excelled himself as both a host and as a experienced guide.
I was there for 3 days of off-road riding, only my second time that I have ventured away from tarmac. The first time was in the UK and the location and scenery this time was so different and wonderful - up in the mountains, where you could even see Morocco, and through long forest trails.
We rarely met any other vehicle and no walkers or horses, and the stops were either in 'traditional' Spanish villages or with a fantastic vista over the terrain.
Phil puts no pressure on you to tackle any techical stuff if you are unsure, but by the end of the first day you are feeling the confidence level increasing. He also offers some useful riding style tips.
At the end of my visit, I was 'up' for more, but it would be a good plan to have a rest day before embarking on any further riding.
Overall, I would highly recommend booking with RotLT.

I happened to be back in Spain on vacation with my Fiance and decided that I needed another outing with Phil at Rider's Of The Lost Trail. I am EXTREMELY glad I did. This was the first time I used one of his rental bikes and was very pleased with the DRZ400. I ride the CRF450X (same bike as Phil) regularly and was shocked at the power and usability of the DRZ. The DRZ has gotten some negative stigma around it, but I am here to testify that it is a very capable bike. I was able to conquer "The Mother of All Climb" on the little Zed. Even the most skilled riders should respect this bike.
As far as the accommodations and service...Absolutely top notch! I was sad to hear that I was one of the last riders that will get to stay that the "El Gecko" B&B;, but I suspect the apartments that have been contracted to replace it will be superb.
Thanks again Phil for another amazing Lost Trail adventure!

Having planned a holiday around Andalucia with my wife, i was hoping to get some riding done in the amazing mountain scenery. A quick search found riders of the lost trail was the nearest to where i was staying so I decided to take a day and explore the trails.
I'd never done any off road riding when i booked (i did one day off road in the UK between booking and riding in spain) but I emailed Phil and he assured me that it wouldn't be a problem and plenty of people ride with no previous off road experience.
On the day, I arrived at the hotel at 9am and after quickly filling in the paperwork it was on with the kit - all good quality stuff and in good condition and off to find the bike, a DRZ400 also obviously well looked after.
After a quick pre start chat it was off onto the trails - a great mix of open moutain tracks, forest and some slightly more technical stuff - all done at a pace that suited everyone with Phil offering tips or even to take the bikes through short tricky sections if we weren't confident enough to do it ourselves. Phil obviously spends a lot of time searching out new trails and it shows, he's really enthusiastic about the riding and the area. Most of the day is spent off road, with only small sections of (beautiful twisty) tarmac to get in and out of town or connect the trails.
A couple of stops during the day for drinks/food and were back in the hotel with me wishing I had more time, I would definitely have signed up for another couple of days there and then if I had space in the holiday. I can see myself returning in the not to distant future.
Tony Sheard 28th May, 2012
Spent four days in Cortez de la frontera and 3 days riding with Phil the guide and organiser. Most definatly the best off road riding you can imagine in the beautiful Spanish mountains villages and forests using the very capable Suzuki DRZ enduros, I can see why these bikes were chosen because of the hill climbs taking you round the mountains, If you are looking for off road riding you will love this packed adventure that will leave you wanting more.
Be prepared for the bobslay run.

Ever had those dreams of riding a dirt bike on mountain edge trails mixed with woods, valleys, river crossings and fantastic vistas? then Riders of the lost trail will turn them into reality. I booked for 5 days riding but I had to sneak in another day in because I loved it. I have not met a guide that is more enthusiastic about riding than Phil and it was infectious.
The DRZ's are just the perfect tool, plenty of power for the hill climbs, agile in the rock garden and single track and smooth acceleration on the sweeping corners. The bikes are well maintained and Phil would adjust anything on the bike for your personal setup.
I must give a mention to Bill and Maxine who run the El Gecko hotel where we stayed for the 8 days, which was organized by Phil. The atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly, we had some fun nights with proper belly laughs.
This is my 5th off road tour holiday, I have been to Portugal twice, North East Spain and another in the South, I can confidently say this was be far the best.

Just returned from my third week long trip with riders of the lost trail - standard is consistently excellent - the riding is always varied - the scenery is fantastic - the bikes well suited to the terrain - and the thought and care to the way in which we are looked after is second to none. I look forward to returning again in the future
Tim Black 9th April, 2012
Staying on the coast I was looking for a bit of excitement, I ride off road at home in Ireland and had looked up Phil online and quite honestly I am delighted to have found them, the bikes are spot on and perfectly suited to the terrain (however challenging you like it) well maintained and very fresh. The gear is top notch and very clean so you don't have to be bothered bringing your own. Everything is spot on with the bike and the gear,, this just leave me to talk about the trails, tracks and terrain which is absolutely made for dirt bikes. There are endless miles of track set against a Back drop of the most amazing scenery I have ever seen.
I was meant to just do 1 day but had to go back for a second day. I can't wait to go back and bring some friends. I rarely leave feedback on trip advisor but I honestly think if you are either an avid enduro/mx rider or a road biker looking to try your hand off road then you simply can't find a better outfit than this and there is defo no better way to get around to this beautiful part of the world. Thanks Phil!!!!

After much arguing, campaigning, and culling, my husband and I had finally "finalized" our Andalucia itinerary, which included a road trip from Seville to Granada, with a stay in Ronda. We'd already sadly concluded that renting bikes and riding the twisty roads from Malaga into the mountains just wasn't going to happen. It was written in ink, no revisions allowed. Then I stumbled onto Phil's website. Spectacular vistas by motorcycle? I HAD to ride in Spain. I just had to. So, I sent my husband the link, and he immediately agreed that we needed to rework the trip.
As a relatively slim woman with no visible tattoos, most people are surprised to learn that I ride my own bike and have for over 20 years. But I never had the chance to play in the dirt. So at the ripe old age of 43, I was excited and apprehensive about going off-road for the first time. The ROTLT reviews inspired me to give it a try.
To squeeze in the new activity, we planned to arrive by car late one afternoon from Seville, stay at the Hotel Gecko, go riding the next day, then head out to Ronda afterwards. We made arrangements with Phil over the internet, who modified his normal Hotel Gecko package when we explained that we needed two bikes but only one room.
We arrived later than expected (but then we always do when on road trips). My husband's prior knowledge of the area thanks to satellite views on Google Earth helped us find the hotel. Maxine obviously recognized the sound of a car in search of parking and popped her head out the hotel window to direct us. We took our dusty selves to our very nice room, showered, then headed down for wine and dinner. (yum). Phil came by at the end of dinner to give us some information about the next morning. There would be only my husband (also never ridden off-road) and myself riding. Which made me feel better since we wouldn't be holding anyone back. As it turned out Phil said if he'd had a mixed group of novice and experienced riders he would have gotten a second guide so he could split the group.
In the morning after breakfast, Phil dragged a bunch of gear over for us to try on. He has an amazing assortment of hard-core motocross gear. (wear socks, underwear; seamless pants like bicycle tights or yoga pants and an under shirt - all else is provided) I felt nearly indestructible once kitted out. Then we went out to meet our steeds. I know nothing about off-ride bikes, so I don't know if there are better bikes to be had, but I put mine through a hell of a workout and I can definitely vouch for the power and durability of Phil's Suzukis.
So... to the riding.
I'm a bit under 5' 7" with a 32" inseam. I normally ride a Triumph Bonneville with a 30.5" (775mm) seat height. The DRZ is spec'd at 37.2" (945mm). I guess if I weighed more I might have compressed the springs enough to touch the ground, but alas... no. I was really intimidated by not being able to have both feet touch the ground. I think someone with more confidence in their leg strength would simply allow the bike to lean over and rest on one foot. I spent the day attempting not to stop :)
So, I was not feeling comfortable with the bike. And I was not feeling comfortable in all that stiff, heavy gear at first... I couldn't actually feel the shift or brake levers with my feet through the heavy boots, I didn't know when this bike wanted to be shifted, the engine noise was different, etc, etc... And the off-roadness started pretty much immediately so there wasn't much time to try to get acquainted with the bike before it was time to learn how to deal with the terrain. (intimidated yet? ok, me too... but keep reading)
Phil quickly had us standing on the pegs and learning to take easy turns. We eventually progressed to sharper turns that required pivoting around a planted leg. It was amazing, exhilarating, and when I took a turn too slowly and fell over, it was embarrassing. :) But the bike and I were fine. We wound through cork oaks and continued up the mountains to see some unbelievable views of the white villages. I fell two more times (my husband never fell). Once because I hit a bump and accidentally (didn't feel it through the boot) hit the brake hard enough to skid then I counter-steered myself into the ground, and once because I slid while cornering and hadn't put a foot down for a pivot. I scraped some plastic on the bike (deemed within normal wear and tear), shredded a moto-shirt sleeve (deemed beyond repair, so I bought that one and took it home), got a couple bruises (would have looked wicked tough at the neighborhood pool) but the bike and I were up and rolling again. It was fun but definitely challenging. We crossed water, dirt, mud, gravel, bowling ball sized rocks, uphill, downhill, cobblestones through town... the bikes just kept on going. Just when the physical and mental exhaustion were kicking it was time for lunch. Phil parked my bike for me on the canted street :)
We enjoyed a hearty lunch in a little village restaurant that is used to putting up with sweaty, incredibly dusty, hungry bikers. I was tired and my confidence was shot by then. But there was only one way home, so I got back on the bike. I'd like to say the route home was less technical. It wasn't. I'd like to say that I food and rest dramatically refreshed my skills. Not so much. BUT, I impressed myself on the way home by making it through a very twisty uphill section with perfect pivot turns, by not falling any more, and by just plain doing what I couldn't do the day before.
We went back to the garage and left a heap of dirty gear for Phil to deal with. And walked next door to the Gecko for well earned drinks before heading off to Ronda.
If you've never ridden off-road this is the ultimate way to learn. Phil is very friendly and welcoming as a guide. But this wasn't just a day in the country with your buddy. It was obvious that Phil takes the business very seriously. The bikes, gear and instruction are all top-notch. I was incredibly impressed that Phil had a satellite phone with GPS locator. He showed us which pocket he kept it in and explained how to call for help if needed. I don't ever want to need something like that, but it was really good to have the option.
At the end of the day, when we asked how long we'd been out, how far we'd ridden... He allowed as how we were out longer than usual and made less distance than usual. Ok... I get it. I was slow! But Phil kept smiling the whole time. He made me feel like taking newbies out for their first time was just as much fun for him as blasting around with the pros.
I loved it. I hated it. I'd do it again. I'd recommend it to anyone who hasn't been completely scared off by this review. :) Especially women!
ADVICE FOR DIRT VIRGINS: Trust Phil's instructions. Trust the bike. Trust the gear. (Trust me! I know!) Drive within your ability to react but be prepared to push yourself to do things you don't think you can. Leave your ego at home - I fell. I asked for help. I rode slow. I needed help getting on the bike! I was a pain in the butt and no one minded (at least they didn't admit it) but do let Phil know ahead of time so he can arrange to have a second guide and run two groups.
ADVICE FOR SHORTER RIDERS: Once in motion I was fine, but I ended up asking for help to mount and dismount. Look for bumps and mounds to stop next to. Stop with the bike in gear (not my normal routine, but if I stopped in neutral with my left foot down I wasn't able to free up my left foot to shift to first. Nag Phil to lower one bike ;)

I have just returnd back from the most brilliant three days trail riding I have had for years.
My 3 friends, all members of Northumbria TRF joined me on my birthday bash to Andalucia to ride with Phill from Riders of the Lost Trail, who turned out to be a real star.
He took us over all sorts of terrain from hard rocky trails to massive hill climbs and fast open trails . the standard of which were good and challenging we all had a blast and cant wait to go back. Hotel and food was great.Phill was so informative about the countryside & wildlife. Would highly reccomend to anyone thinking of a trail riding trip .

Stupendous scenery! Terrific trails! Great guide!
The scenery is so good that it can be difficult to concentrate on the trails - a slight problem if your attention drifts as a few goats wander out of the trees! Phil is really good in terms of encouraging but not pushing - there were a couple of times that I said 'no thanks' but as a near-novice it was reassuring to be able to decline when the confidence was not quite what was needed. Having said that, the hill-climbing really got the adrenalin going!
I guess three days would be the ideal in terms of building confidence and skill but I only had two days available - two days really well-spent though!
Definitely one to put on the 'to-do' list!

It was with a mixture of excitement and trepidation that a friend & I booked 3 days with Phil at Riders of the Lost Trail as relief from Xmas 2011 in the uk & a well earned break from business.
Neither of us had ever ridden bikies off road before & so there some visions of embarassing ourselves from the off and then spending the rest of the time picking up the bikes while we accumulated bruises and broken limbs.
Far from it!!!
Phil is 'a natural' when it comes to judging your individual levels of ability & confidence & then building on both in short order. If you couple this with his excellent personal knowledge of the locality, you end up with a tour guide that you quickly have absolute trust in ... within hours we were both grinning from ear to ear and upping the pace as we tackled increasingly more challenging technical stages in some really beautuful scenery.
By the end of the third day we'd both come off the bikes a coupe or three times & therefore lost that fear!
We'd ridden up & down tracks/gorges where a mountain goat would be proud to say "I woz ere". Crossed streams & rivers and come out the other side (sometimes a little damper) & always been enthusiastically greeted by the locals wherever we went ... the local workmen all seem to take delight from hearing the sounds of the exhausts bouncing around in the valleys and are then all grins and hi-5's when you finally come into view.
The clothing provided is first rate and 'offs' were quickly dimissed - were the worst ever to happen, Phil has the technology & local backup to get a recovery Land Rover out to you in quitck time.
I could go on and on ... suffice to say, we will be returning.
My one hesitation in writing this note is that it will cause word to spread (which Phil deserves) and what is now a terrific secret shared by a few will become known by more but, that seems churlish.
If you are thinking abotu booking and have taken the trouble to read this .... go for it! you won't regret a minute.
Many thanks Phil

Best holiday ever! We are both experienced riders and had six days of amazing riding, great local food and fantastic company! Already planning to go back!

What an amazing three days - could have stayed for more. This was the first time off road for me and with Phil's guidance and coaching he soon had us zipping up incredibly steep firebreaks and down rocky gorges. Phil has a knack of understanding your level then gradually encouraging you to push your own boundaries until you have achieved way more than you first thought possible. The kit was immaculate, bikes first class, accomodation spot on - and the beer at the end of the day most welcome!
There is no room for Macho bravado here - everyone goes at their own pace - my mate and I, who were total novices at this, rode out with two experienced off roaders, and we all had a brilliant time. We got to see the most amazing places, stunning views, beautiful villages and incredible wildlife. The team have taken every effort to make sure they deliver a first class service and no doubt we will be back in the near future for another dose of inspiration on two wheels.

Recently returned from 3 days of blue sky riding with Phil & xtnomad. The aches and pains have worn off but the grin and buzz definately have not! New to off-road riding, I was initially a little nervous but after plenty of encouragement and no pressure I was soon flying. Varied terrain kept each trail lively and interesting. The kit supplied by Riders was clean, well fitting and provided plenty of protection during a couple of my tumbles. They even had size 47 boots for my plates of meat. Roll on next year.

This was my second time down to the veritable playground that is Riders of the Lost Trail's home in Cortes de la Frontera and, once again, it was a truly memorable experience. It certainly won't be my last visit. New trails have been discovered by Phil and the conditions were amazing, as they always seem to be! Couple this with Phil's professional guidance and the hospitality of Bill and Max at El Gecko and you have the perfect recipe for an off-road riding experience. Outstanding :-)

I wish I had tried this a long, long time ago. I was a complete novice only ever riding sport bikes now after being wisely guided around the most spectacular countryside for three days I'm sliding the back wheel, riding up and down insanely steep slopes, over boulders and through rivers.*
Did I fall off? Yes a few times, each time Phil was there to lend a hand and to make sure everything was OK. No bumps or bruises as all the body armour was top quality and fitted well.
I could go on about the quality of the bikes, the equipment; how Bill and Max at the Gecko hotel made you feel welcome, the quality of the choice of trails or even the bars and restaurants we stopped at for lunch. However for me it was Phil, his passion to see his clients having fun and pushing themselves made and amazing trip a wonderful adventure.
I can't wait to return in 2012

Phil saw to it that I had an excellent days riding - nearly 120KM and nearly all of it off road through some stunning scenery - we also saw plenty of local wildlife. His bikes are in good condition and are well maintained as is the riding gear, he knows plenty of good tracks and he jugged the pace just right. After about 100KM riding I had a puncture in my front tyre. Evidently still full of energy Phil propped the bike up on some rocks, took off the front wheel, replaced the inner tube and put everything back together faster than I could have done it in my own work shop! I was impressed - while he was working 3 large pigs appeared out of the forest to see what was going on - they seemed less impressed as after briefly checking he hadn't pinched the inner tube they carried on looking for acorns.

Expertly run off-road motorcycle tours through beautiful scenery. Every tour is carefully adapted to suit the individual experience of each rider. Tours can be for upwards of one day. When accommodation is required they are happy to book you into the nearby Hotel El Gecko which provides good clean rooms and great hospitality.

This week once again I saw the expansive, sun drenched Andalucia from another perspective - whilst riding a Suzuki DRZ 400 E enduro/trail motorbike!
Discovering the beautiful Guadiaro Valley with 'Riders Of The Lost Trail' was fantastic!
Phil Wood's guided off-road adventure motorcycle trail tour company is really professional and they really know how to put together a fun day. I'd not been on a bike for 9 years, but Phil design a dirt trail route that was perfect for a novice off roader like me. I still felt stretched and challenged, with adrenalin pumping and a real feeling of excitement - but always safe and I got some useful tips and advice on how to quickly master the basics of off road biking.
The price for the day included everything; the bike, the insurance, the gear, Phil as an excellent guide, the fuel, the tour, and lunch. We kicked off the day with a strong coffee at El Gecko Hotel and then I changed into the riding gear provided: knee guards, body armour, boots, helmet, and goggles as well as protective trousers.
This autumn has been really hot with temperature hitting the high twenties and low thirties centigrade, but I felt really comfortable.
The scenery was superb - this has been one of my best days out in Andalucia. If you have a bike license, then I highly recommend this - even if like me you've not been on a bike in a while or never gone off road, it's not to be missed.

Just arrived home after a bonkers few days off road with Phil from Riders of the Lost Trail. If you dream for adventure motorcycling and don't want the norm, then this is the trip for you... One minute you can be forcing your way through a river crossing on the valley floor and thirty minutes later be standing on a mountain top, admiring the view of the Riff Mountains in Morocco. In-between there are trails through beautiful Cork Forests, open Mountain trails with stunning views, both technical and demanding with big drop offs or smooth and sweeping through the valley bottoms...
If this isn't enough to wet your appetite we enjoyed authentic lunches in traditional Pueblo Blanco's, where I relied on Phil's excellent local dialect and culinary knowledge, to ensure some 'full belly riding' in the afternoon..!! Phil can accommodate all skill and riding levels, or like me if you say your 'up for a challenge..' then be prepared to eat your words..!!
On my final day we did 120Km off road and I can still see the battle scars where he coached me to do things I thought were beyond me, but with an expanding set of swingers! and an encouraging word in my ear, I achieved all this and more..!!
After a full days riding its back to the Hotel El Gecko for a few well earned cool beers and a beautiful evening meal. Also with the hotel situated nearby the station its easily accessible from both Gibraltar and Malaga airports. If you can tear yourself away from the trails the stunning town of Ronda is close-by via the same train line.
There are only two types of people in the world - Talkers and Doers - this is one experience most definitely for the Doers...!!!

The scenery and riding are about as good as it gets but it's the host/guide who makes it memorable. Phil is perfect and we all felt like we were riding with a long-time buddy. He also leans towards smaller groups which I personally prefer.
The bikes and gear were spot on. Everything in great shape.
The hosts at the El Gecko also made it feel like being with family.

Just finished 4 days of riding with 3 friends and couldn't have had a better time. The bikes and the gear were top notch but the key to it all was Phil himself. Couldn't have asked for a better person to guide us. Phil's knowledge of the area, his personal attention to each member of our group and his willingness to provide exactly what each of us was needing made this a very enjoyable trrp. If your thinking this maybe for you, don't hesitate to book your trip.
We stayed at the El Geko Hotel, it was like staying with Family. Bill and Max are gracious hosts and added to the overall experience. Also suggest visiting Ronda while there, amazing town for sites, shops and food.
Best comment I can give is that I would do it all again.
Phil, Bill, Max, thank you for a great time. Hope to see you all again soon!

Just got back from a four day tour with Riders of the Lost Trail and had to post this. We had a brilliant time with host/guide Phil Woods riding through the beautiful country around Cortes de la Frontera. The DRZ 400 bikes that Phil supplied were wonderful and we had a blast riding. This is some of the best off road riding I've ever done and was much more fun than my previous trips to Baja. The riding was a great mix of different terrains and styles and Phil was superb at matching the ride to our wants and desires. Stopping for lunch at restaurants in the "white villages" in the hills was an unexpected treat and the views while riding were unbelievable. We stayed at the El Gecko Hotel (arranged by Phil) and that was great too! This was the best off road holiday I've ever been on and I'll go back again. Thanks Phil!

From Phil's base in Cortes he has mapped out all manner of trails and there are even more that he hasn't found yet. Whatever your standard of riding he will find something that you will enjoy. If you want to rip it and go that's fine or toodle around the campo no problem - Phil is your flexible friend. He speaks the language, knows the people and the history; you will have a great time!

Choosing where to ride a bike off-road from the raft of different operators available in a magazine can often feel a little hit-and-miss. However, I think I hit jackpot when I arrived in Spain and met Riders of the Lost Trail's affable owner, Phil Wood, as he couldn't have shown more humility during my stay in his Andalucian mountain playground. A genuine enthusiasm for both motorcycling and the area in which he has resided for many years were the perfect pre-requisites for a superb off-road motorcycling experience. The variety of the terrain and the wealth of potential in Andalucia is overwhelming and before I was even home I was plotting ways to return. ROLT comes highly recommended.

I have gone out on two separate day trips with Phil from Riders of the Lost Trial. Though they have a full line of rental motorcycles I have ridden my own bike each time. Phil has an AMAZING knowledge base of the area surrounding Cortes de la Frontera and the Los Alcornacales forest. He has painstakingly studied the the riding areas and I am thouroughly impressed that he has put together so many great riding routes. I whole heartly recommend this business and multiday trips with Phil and the Riders of the Lost Trial.
